Victorious Sejuani

Honestly not gonna lie, when Riot announced Sejuani as the Season 12 Victorious skin I had mixed feelings. Been maining tanks in the jungle for a while and Sejuani was already in my rotation, but the Victorious line has this track record of looking either incredible or forgettable. No in between. Victorious Sejuani landed somewhere closer to the good end, though it took me a few games to appreciate what they did here.

How Victorious Sejuani actually looks in game

The gold and blue royal armor is clean. Bristle gets a full makeover with ornate plating and a crown-like headpiece that reads well from the default camera angle. Sejuani herself sits taller in the saddle somehow, or at least it feels that way. The new VFX on her Q charge leave this trailing gold particle effect that I think looks better than half her paid skins.

W slam has golden impact rings. Subtle change but it makes the ability feel heavier. E passive stacks show as these small golden marks on enemies, easier to track than base in my experience. R is where the skin peaks though. The glacial prison flies out with this deep blue and gold trail, and the freeze explosion has a satisfying royal burst to it. Played maybe 40 games with this in Diamond last season and the ult VFX never got old.

Voice lines stay base, no new VO. The recall animation is new though. Sejuani plants a Victorious banner while Bristle does this proud stomp. Short and clean, doesnt overstay its welcome like some recalls do. (Random aside: the recall banner matches your chroma rank color which is a nice touch most people miss.)

The Victorious line and Season 12 context

Released November 15, 2022. End of Season 12. Francis Tneh and West Studio handled the splash, and they captured the regal warrior fantasy well. Sejuani looks commanding without being over the top.

The Victorious skinline has been around since Jarvan IV back in Season 1. Sejuani joining this roster felt earned. She was a staple pick in pro play and solo queue that year, showing up in jungle and occasionally top lane. Kinda feels like Riot actually picked a champion people were playing for once instead of some random choice nobody expected.

10 chromas total, split between Solo/Duo and Flex queues. The Challenger chroma in that deep blue and gold is the one everyone wants obviously. Master has this rich purple-magenta that honestly looks better than the base skin in certain lighting. Grandmaster goes red, which clashes a bit with the royal theme but stands out on the Rift. Each rank from Platinum up got both a Solo/Duo and Flex variant, so if you grinded both queues you could collect the full set.

Could be wrong here but I think the Diamond chroma with that purple tint might be the most common one I see in my games. Makes sense, thats the biggest population of players who’d have this skin equipped. Last Tuesday in a ranked game my support was running the Challenger variant and our whole team was asking how they got it.

Is Victorious Sejuani worth the grind?

Real verdict: you cant buy this. Vault skin. It was the Season 12 Gold+ ranked reward, so if you hit Gold or above in either Solo/Duo or Flex before November 2022, you got it free. If you missed it, its sitting in the vault and might show up in Hextech crafting eventually but dont count on it.

For a free ranked reward the quality is solid. New VFX on every ability, new recall, the chroma system tied to your peak rank. Sejuani has 12 skins total now and Victorious holds up against most of the paid options. Bear Cavalry and Hextech Sejuani are flashier, sure. But there’s something about loading into a game with a Victorious skin that hits different. It says you were there, you grinded, you earned it. Season 12 specifically, that ranked game where my Kayn inted three times pre-6 and I still had to hold it together for the LP.

Top pick for Sejuani mains who were around for the season. If you have it, use it. If you dont, Project Sejuani or Hextech are your best alternatives in the shop.
