Coven Skins

All 23 skins in the Coven skinline. Browse splash art, chromas, and detailed reviews for every Coven skin in League of Legends.

Coven is the skinline I keep coming back to when someone asks me what Riot does best with dark fantasy. Been playing since season 8 when the first batch dropped and honestly the whole witchy gothic vibe just hits different from anything else in the game. There's 23 skins in the line now counting the Old God sub-theme, and the quality floor is higher than most skinlines can manage at their ceiling. Not gonna lie, I own maybe half of these and dont regret a single purchase.

What Makes Coven Stand Out on the Rift

The visual signature is immediately recognizable. Deep purples, thorny gold accents, glowing sigils, and this recurring motif of ancient dark magic that feels rooted in European witchcraft lore. Every Coven skin shares that language. You see the splash art in champ select and you know exactly what line it belongs to before reading the name.

Could be wrong here but I think what separates Coven from similar dark-themed lines like Death Sworn or Eclipse is the consistency. Eclipse has some gorgeous entries but the aesthetic shifts between releases. Coven locked in its identity from day one with LeBlanc and Camille back in 2018 and every skin since has respected that foundation. The color palette barely drifts. Purples and golds with occasional teal accents for the Old God variants. Clean commitment to a single vision.

The VFX work carries hard across the board. Even the Epic tier skins get particle changes that feel meaningful. Zyra's plants turning into thorny Coven constructs, Elise's spiders becoming these dark ritual creatures, Syndra's spheres glowing with occult energy. Riot's VFX team clearly loves working on this line. (Random aside: I used Coven Syndra as my desktop wallpaper for like three months straight in 2022.)

The splash arts deserve their own mention. Whoever art directs this line understands atmosphere. Every splash feels like a page from a dark fantasy novel. Rich backgrounds, dramatic poses, and this cinematic quality that most skinlines only hit on their Legendary entries. Coven hits it on Epics too. The Cassiopeia splash alone is worth the 1350 RP just to see it in your collection.

One thing that really ties the whole line together is the lore framework. The Coven universe has actual worldbuilding. Witches serving old gods, ancient pacts, a hierarchy of power. It gives each champion a role that makes sense beyond just "here's a dark version." Morgana is the high priestess. Evelynn is the seductress of the coven. Warwick and Malphite serve as Old Gods being worshipped. That coherence is rare.

Best Coven Skins to Lock In

Coven Morgana. Full stop. This is the benchmark Legendary skin for the entire line and honestly one of the best Legendary skins in the game period. Played maybe 80 ranked games with it last season in Diamond and the Q binding VFX alone is worth 1820 RP. The dark thorny cage on her R looks incredible in teamfights. New voice lines that actually fit the Coven fantasy instead of generic dark Morgana. The recall animation where she communes with the old gods is chef's kiss territory.

Coven Evelynn is the second Legendary and it earns the price tag differently. Where Morgana is regal and commanding, Evelynn's version leans into the seductive predator angle. The charm (W) particles have this mesmerizing purple glow that actually made me miss a cs or two just watching it proc in lane. Not sure if its just me but the stealth visuals on this skin feel cleaner than base too. Her empowered E hit has weight to it visually.

Coven Nami rounds out the Legendary trio and kinda feels like Riot perfecting the formula. Released in 2023, latest addition at Legendary tier. The bubble (Q) is this gorgeous dark ritual circle rising from the ground. Her ult wave transforms into this massive tidal force of dark magic crashing through the backline. Been spamming this in ranked whenever I get autofilled support and even my ADC comments on how good it looks.

Real talk though, the Epics punch above their weight here. Coven Ahri from the 2023 batch is stunning for 1350 RP. The orb on her Q shifts between purple and gold and the charm particles are elite. Coven Cassiopeia has some of the best poison VFX in the game. Twin Fang (E) procs look venomous in a way that base Cass never managed. Coven Ashe is another standout. Her R arrow as a dark ritual projectile flying across the map is genuinely one of those "wait what skin is that" moments in teamfight replays.

Prestige Coven LeBlanc deserves a mention even though Mythic tier skins are polarizing. The gold and white inversion of the standard Coven palette works better than most Prestige treatments. Might be overthinking it but I think LeBlanc's trickster identity meshes perfectly with the Coven witch fantasy. She was one of the original two Coven skins and the Prestige version felt earned, not forced.

The Champion Roster

Twenty champions across 23 skins. Thats a substantial roster for a thematic line and most of the picks make sense. Morgana, LeBlanc, Evelynn, Elise, Syndra. These are champions whose base kits already read as dark and magical. Dropping them into a witches' coven universe requires zero mental gymnastics. They belong there.

The Old God sub-theme is where the roster gets interesting. Warwick, Malphite, Mordekaiser, Nocturne, Ivern, and Volibear (as The Thousand-Pierced Bear) represent the ancient entities that the Coven witches serve. Malphite as a massive stone deity works surprisingly well. Ivern as a corrupted nature god is one of those picks that sounds wrong on paper but looks incredible in game. Been running Old God Ivern in my jungle games since it dropped and the Daisy reskin alone sells it.

Some picks feel slightly stretched. Nilah joining Coven in 2023 was unexpected. She's not the first champion I'd associate with gothic witchcraft. But Riot made it work visually even if the thematic connection feels thin. Akali is another one where the gameplay fantasy of a ninja assassin doesn't scream "ancient witch" but the skin execution is clean enough that nobody complains. (Sidebar for Akali mains: the shroud VFX on Coven is actually better for visibility than some of her other skins, weirdly enough.)

Who should be next? Lux feels obvious but maybe too obvious. I'd love to see Coven Karma or Coven Bel'Veth. A void creature serving old gods has potential. Could also see Coven Orianna with the ball reskinned as a dark artifact. Riot seems to revisit this line every year or two so there's probably more coming.

Tier Breakdown and Pricing

The distribution tells a story. Sixteen Epics at 1350 RP, three Legendaries at 1820 RP, three Mythic (Prestige) skins, and one Standard at 975 RP. The Epics carry this line numerically and they carry it quality-wise too. Kinda feels like Riot treats Coven Epics with more care than average. The particle work on skins like Coven Zyra or Coven Lissandra would pass for Legendary-lite in other skinlines.

Price range runs 975 to 1820 RP. That one Standard tier skin (Coven Camille from the original 2018 batch) is the only entry below 1350 and honestly it holds up for 975. Not the flashiest but the model changes capture the Coven aesthetic. If you're climbing ranked on a budget that's your entry point.

The three Legendaries are where the real money goes and where the line peaks in quality. Each one justifies the 1820 RP tag with new VO, animations, and VFX that transform the champion. Fair warning, once you play Coven Morgana you cant go back to base. I tried after a two week break last March. Lasted one game before switching back.

The Prestige variants add another layer for collectors. Prestige Coven LeBlanc, Prestige Coven Akali, and Prestige Coven Zyra. These run through the Mythic Essence shop or event passes depending on when you grab them. Worth it if you're deep into the Coven collection already. Skip if you're just picking up one or two skins from the line.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Coven skins are there?

There's 23 Coven skins total right now including the Old God sub-theme and Prestige variants. The line launched back in 2018 with just LeBlanc and Camille and has grown steadily with new batches dropping every year or two. Twenty different champions represented across the full roster which is solid for a thematic line.

What is the best Coven skin?

Coven Morgana and it's not close. Legendary tier with full new VO, completely reworked abilities, and the best R visual in her entire skin catalog. Been maining Morgana with this skin in Diamond for multiple seasons and it still feels premium. Coven Evelynn and Coven Nami are strong runner-ups if you play those champions more.

Which champions have Coven skins?

Twenty champions total. The core witches include Morgana, LeBlanc, Evelynn, Ahri, Syndra, Elise, and more. The Old God sub-roster has Warwick, Malphite, Mordekaiser, Nocturne, Ivern, and Volibear as The Thousand-Pierced Bear. Most recent additions came in 2023 with Nami, Nilah, and Ahri joining the line.

Does Coven have Legendary skins?

Three Legendaries at 1820 RP each. Coven Morgana, Coven Evelynn, and Coven Nami. All three include new voice lines, unique animations, and completely reworked VFX for every ability. Morgana's was first and set the bar high. Evelynn and Nami both met that bar. Honestly hard to pick a weak link among the three.

When did the Coven skinline release?

First Coven skins dropped in 2018 with LeBlanc and Camille. The line has received new batches roughly every year since then with the most recent additions landing in 2023. Thats five years of consistent releases which shows Riot considers Coven a core thematic line worth investing in long term.

Are Coven skins worth buying?

If you like dark fantasy aesthetics then yes, easily. The Epics at 1350 RP punch way above their weight class in this line specifically. The Legendaries are some of the best in the game. Maybe just my experience but I've never regretted buying a Coven skin. Even the weaker entries look good because the shared visual identity is so strong.

Do Coven skins have chromas?

Most of the Epic Coven skins come with chroma sets. The standard chroma packs usually include Ruby, Obsidian, and several unique color variants. Prestige versions (LeBlanc, Akali, Zyra) function as their own alternate colorway essentially. Not every skin in the line has chromas but the majority of the 1350 RP entries do.

Will Riot make more Coven skins?

Take this with a grain of salt but I'd bet on it. Coven has gotten new skins almost every year since 2018 and the community reception stays positive. The line sells well based on how often I see these skins in my ranked games. Riot hasnt announced anything specific but the pattern suggests more Coven content is likely coming in a future patch cycle.
