Sugar Rush Evelynn

First time I saw Sugar Rush Evelynn load in, I thought someone was trolling in champ select. Candy-themed assassin? Felt wrong. Then I played against it in a Diamond ranked game around 2 AM on a Tuesday and the VFX genuinely threw me off. The pink and teal particles blend into the Rift differently than her base kit, and for a split second I misjudged her charm range. Thats when I knew I had to pick it up myself.

How Sugar Rush changes Evelynn’s kit visually

The whole model gets a candy makeover. Evelynn’s lashers turn into these twisted candy cane whips, her demon shade form leans into a gingerbread color palette, and the outfit feels like something between a pastry chef and a succubus. Weird combo. Works better than it should.

VFX are where the 1350 RP actually earns its keep. Her Q – Hate Spike shoots out these candy projectiles that pop with sugary particle effects on contact. Not gonna lie, they read cleaner than base Evelynn’s purple stuff in teamfights. W charm has this swirling candy indicator that I think is slightly easier to track, which matters when you’re trying to proc the full charm before diving the backline.

E – Whiplash gets the candy treatment too, the lashers leave behind these sweet trails. And her R, Last Caress, has this burst of confetti and candy shards on execution. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last season and the ult VFX still feels satisfying every time. The recall animation is a highlight. Evelynn pulls out a gingerbread house and does her thing with it. Cute touch.

Voice lines stay base though. No VO refresh. For an Epic tier skin thats expected, but given how much personality Evelynn has in her default lines, it doesnt hurt the package.

The Sugar Rush line and where this skin fits

Sugar Rush dropped December 17, 2019. Late season 9. Xiao Guang Sun and West Studio handled the artwork, and they captured this playful energy that Evelynn doesn’t usually get. Most of her skins lean dark and edgy. Blood Moon, Coven, the K/DA stuff. Sugar Rush is the outlier and honestly I respect it for that.

The Sugar Rush skinline itself is one of Riot’s more niche themes. Zilean and Braum got skins in the same batch. Evelynn fits the concept surprisingly well because her kit already has that predatory allure angle, and wrapping it in candy gives the whole “luring you in” fantasy a literal interpretation. Kinda feels like Riot’s design team was having fun with that one.

(Random aside: I used the Sugar Rush Evelynn splash as my Discord avatar for like three months. Nobody in my clash team recognized which champion it was.)

6 chromas total. Obsidian goes full dark chocolate and honestly reads like a completely different skin. Sweet Tooth is the standout for me though, that pink and teal combo pops hard against the Rift’s greens. Jasper has a warm gingerbread tone that fits the candy theme tighter than the base palette does. Could be wrong here but I think Ruby might be the least interesting of the set since it just shifts everything red without adding much personality.

Should you buy Sugar Rush Evelynn?

Real verdict: if you main Evelynn and you already own K/DA or Coven, this is a solid rotation skin. Different vibe entirely. Been running this in ranked during December every year since it dropped because it just feels right for the season. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across the full kit, a fun recall, clean model work.

Where it falls short is that Evelynn has some stacked competition. Coven is gorgeous. K/DA ALL OUT has the brand recognition. But Sugar Rush fills a gap none of those touch. It’s lighthearted. Playful. If you’re the kind of Evelynn player who spam emotes after deleting someone in a gank, this skin matches that energy perfectly. Shop has it, permanent availability. Worth 1350 if you main Evelynn, maybe skip if you’re just picking her up for the first time and want something that screams “jungle assassin” more traditionally. For one-tricks adding to the collection though? Easy cop. Top pick for Evelynn mains who want range in their skin rotation, season 9 sleeper that still holds up five years later.
