First time I saw Program Soraka load in, I thought someone modded the game. The whole digital wireframe aesthetic on a healer felt weird. Not bad weird. Just unexpected. Been maining Soraka on and off since season 5, and this skin threw me off for a solid few games before it clicked. Something about the way the healing particles render as data streams instead of starlight just hits different once you get used to it.

The digital overhaul on Soraka’s kit

So this is a 1350 RP Epic tier skin, and it earns that tag. New VFX across the board. Soraka’s Q sends out this grid-pattern starcall that looks like a scanning pulse instead of a celestial burst. Feels cleaner to read in lane, honestly. The W heal is where it gets interesting though. Instead of the usual green starfall effect, you get this holographic data transfer animation between you and your ADC. Played maybe 80 games with this and my duo said the heal visual actually helped him track when I was topping him off during trades.

The E silence zone looks like a corrupted data field. Glitchy edges, digital noise. Its cool because it reads as more threatening than base Soraka’s E, which I think gives a slight psychological edge in bot lane. Might be overthinking it but I swear people walk into it less.

New recall animation too. Soraka does this whole system boot sequence thing, very on-brand for the Program line. No new voice lines though, voice stays default. The model itself turns Soraka into this sleek android-looking character with circuit patterns running through her horn and robes. Teal and purple color scheme. Last Tuesday around 2 AM I was grinding ranked and the skin’s glow actually looked really good on the Summoner’s Rift night map during that event mode.

Program line and release context

Released April 6, 2016. Mid season 6. Kelly Aleshire nailed the splash, the composition with Soraka floating in this digital void surrounded by code fragments captures the skin’s identity perfectly.

The Program skinline is one of Riot’s tech-dystopia themes. Sits alongside Program Lissandra and Program Camille. Kinda feels like a sister line to PROJECT but for non-combat champions. The lore angle is that these are champions converted into digital constructs, which works surprisingly well for Soraka since her whole healing thing translates into “data restoration” in this universe. Not sure if it’s just me but the Program skins feel underrated compared to PROJECT. Less flashy, more subtle.

No chromas on this one. Zero. What you see is what you get with the teal and purple palette. Shop has it, permanent availability, so no vault anxiety. For 1350 RP you’re getting the full Epic package: model, VFX, recall. Standard voice, no new lines. Fair for the price point.

How it feels in actual ranked games

Took this into ranked for about two weeks straight last season. The VFX clarity is genuinely above average for a 2016 skin. Some older Epics have muddy particles that blend into teamfights but Program Soraka’s abilities read clean against most map textures. The Q landing indicator specifically stands out during dragon fights where theres a lot of visual clutter.

(Random aside: the recall sound effect on this skin is lowkey one of the best ambient sounds in the game. Very satisfying boot-up chime.)

One thing that bugged me, the auto attack animation feels slightly different from base. Not gameplay-affecting, just a feel thing. After maybe 30 games of cs-ing in lane I adjusted. The teal projectile is easier to track than base Soraka’s banana, which helped me cancel fewer autos when poking in lane. Real talk though, if you’re playing Soraka you shouldnt be auto attacking much past pre-6 anyway unless you’re asserting lane prio.

In teamfights the skin shines. Your W heal beam is visible to your team, your E zone reads clearly for peel situations, and your R ult has this global data pulse that looks clean on the death recap screen. Been in Diamond lobbies where my jungler actually complimented the ult VFX. That never happens with base Soraka.

Should you buy it?

Verdict time. Program Soraka at 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. It’s not the flashiest Soraka skin, Star Guardian and Dawnbringer both outclass it in raw spectacle. But if you want something different from the typical celestial healer fantasy, the tech aesthetic is a solid change of pace. Best pick for Soraka mains who want to rotate skins between games without everything feeling samey.

Skip this if you only own one Soraka skin and want maximum value, Dawnbringer or Star Guardian give you more for similar or slightly higher price. But as a second or third skin in your rotation? Worth it. The VFX clarity alone justifies the price for anyone grinding ranked on Soraka. 1350 RP well spent for mains who want variety in their collection.
