First time I saw Prestige PROJECT Irelia load into a game I thought someone modded their client. The white and gold color shift from the base PROJECT skin hits completely different, and I remember locking this in during season 9 thinking it looked like something out of a different game entirely. Not sure if it’s just me but the Prestige version of PROJECT skins generally outclass the originals, and Irelia’s is probably the best example of that.

What the Prestige treatment actually changes

So the base PROJECT Irelia already came with new VFX and a new recall animation. Prestige keeps all of that but swaps the color palette from that dark purple-blue cyber look into white, gold, and cream tones. Every blade she controls picks up this pearlescent golden shimmer that reads way cleaner on the Rift than I expected.

Her Q resets in teamfights leave these gold trails everywhere. Played maybe 40 games with this back when it dropped and the Q mark-dash sequences genuinely look smoother than any other Irelia skin I’ve used. Could be wrong here but I think the particle density on Prestige is slightly toned down compared to base PROJECT, which actually helps with visual clarity when you’re diving the backline in a messy 5v5.

W charge-up glows this warm amber instead of the harsh blue. Looks clean. The E blades swap to gold too, and landing a stun feels more satisfying with the brighter particles. Hard to explain but the visual feedback just works better for the kit.

R is where it really shines though. The blade wall comes out in this white-gold cascade and the initial burst has way more pop than base PROJECT. Been running this skin in Diamond ranked on and off since 2019 and I still think the ult animation is one of the best in Irelia’s entire lineup. Voice lines stay base, no new VO here, but honestly Cherami Leigh’s performance carries fine across all the skins.

Recall animation kept from PROJECT but with the gold treatment. She does the blade assembly sequence and it looks like she’s building something out of liquid gold. Banger recall honestly.

The PROJECT line and how this Prestige fits

Prestige PROJECT Irelia dropped August 1, 2019. Right in the middle of summer, season 9. Xuning Cui and Kudos Production handled the splash, and they nailed the golden aesthetic without making it look gaudy. That’s harder than it sounds with Prestige skins because a lot of them just look like someone cranked the saturation on a gold filter.

The PROJECT skinline is one of Riot’s longest running thematic sets. Cyberpunk-adjacent, augmented warriors, the whole deal. Irelia fits naturally into that fantasy because her blade dancing already looks like something from a sci-fi anime. The Prestige version leans even harder into that divine-tech angel vibe.

(Random aside: the PROJECT Irelia splash has been my desktop background at some point during like three different seasons.) This is a Mythic tier skin with Special pricing, which means you couldnt just buy it outright with RP back in the day. It was tied to the Prestige Point system during the 2019 PROJECT event. These days availability has shifted and its accessible through the Mythic shop rotation. Available now if you catch it in the rotation.

No chromas on this one. Makes sense for a Prestige skin since the whole point is the exclusive colorway. The white-gold IS the variant.

How it stacks against other Irelia skins

Real talk though, Irelia has one of the deeper skin pools in the game. Divine Sword, Mythmaker, Spirit Blossom, the other PROJECT variants. For my money Prestige PROJECT sits in the top three. The 2022 re-release version exists too but I think the original 2019 Prestige still reads better in game.

Where it beats Divine Sword is the VFX clarity during lane phase. Pre-6 trading patterns with Q resets are easier to track with the gold particles. Where it loses to something like Spirit Blossom Irelia is the thematic cohesion, Spirit Blossom just tells a better story. But for pure in-game feel while splitpushing or looking for flanks in comp, Prestige PROJECT is my go-to.

Kinda feels like Riot peaked early with this Prestige design. Some of the later Prestige skins from 2020 and 2021 felt lazy by comparison. This one actually justified the grind. I remember farming tokens at like 1 AM on a Tuesday during that event just to hit the threshold.

The honest take

Should you pick this up? If you main Irelia and you see it rotate through the Mythic shop, absolutely. Top pick for Irelia mains who want something that stands out without being visually noisy. The gold-white palette is unique enough that people notice it in champ select, and the VFX updates from the PROJECT base carry over perfectly.

Skip it if you already own Spirit Blossom Irelia and only play her occasionally. For one-tricks and Irelia mains climbing through ranked though, this is the skin. Special pricing means you cant impulse buy it, which honestly makes it feel more exclusive when you do lock it in. Been daily driving this across multiple seasons and I keep coming back even after trying every new Irelia release. The Q reset chains in gold just hit different and thats not something I say about most Prestige skins. S-tier Irelia cosmetic, no question.
