First game I played with Pool Party Lulu was back in season 5, right after it dropped. Locked it in for a support game around midnight and immediately noticed Pix turned into a tiny blowfish. Sold. That single detail carried the entire skin for me, and honestly it still does. Not sure if it’s just me but something about a yordle in a sun hat polymorphing people into seal pups just hits different in a Diamond ranked game where everyone is already tilted.
What Pool Party Lulu actually changes
The VFX rework on this skin is solid for an Epic tier. Glitterlance (Q) shoots water streams instead of the normal sparkle bolts, and they read cleanly against most Rift terrain. Whimsy (W) turns enemies into a seal pup instead of the usual cupcake or squirrel, which is honestly one of the better polymorph models in Lulu’s entire catalog. Help, Pix! (E) splashes water particles on the target. Clean effect, no visual clutter in teamfights.
Wild Growth (R) is where the skin earns its keep. The knockup sends out a wave of pool water that spreads across the ground. Been playing this in bot lane for years and the R circle is actually easier to track than base Lulu’s. Might be overthinking it but I think the blue water contrasts better against the green Rift floor than the purple default VFX. Makes it easier for your ADC to see the peel zone.
The recall animation has Lulu building a sandcastle with Pix. Short and sweet. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but thats fine for 1350 RP. The base voice is iconic enough. (Random aside: Faye Mata’s voice work on Lulu is so recognizable that any replacement would feel wrong anyway.)
Pix as a blowfish deserves its own mention. The little guy floats around with pool floaties and the texture work is genuinely charming. In lane when you attach Pix to an enemy for poke, the blowfish chasing a Draven around is comedy gold. Seen it tilt people in my games more than once.
Pool Party line and release context
Pool Party Lulu released June 25, 2015. Mid-season 5. The Pool Party skinline is one of Riot’s most consistent series, and Lulu fits the summer theme naturally. Yordle in beachwear with a magical companion turned into a sea creature. It writes itself.
Sixmorevodka Studio nailed the splash. Lulu is front and center on a pool float with Pix hovering nearby, the whole composition reads bright and fun without being cluttered. The colors pop hard, lots of turquoise and warm yellows that sell the beach vibe.
7 chromas total for this skin. Turquoise is my go-to, it leans into the ocean aesthetic harder than the base purple tones. Ruby flips the whole color scheme to a warm sunset palette which looks surprisingly clean in game. Rose Quartz gives it a softer pastel feel that some Lulu mains I know swear by. The rest are fine but those three stand out from my experience. Shop has it, permanent availability, so no vault anxiety.
Is Pool Party Lulu worth 1350 RP?
Real verdict: if you play Lulu support in ranked, this is one of the better options in her lineup. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX changes are meaningful without being distracting, the polymorph model swap is genuinely funny, and the Pix redesign adds personality to every game. Been running this as my main Lulu skin since about season 7 I think, swapped to Star Guardian for a while but kept coming back.
The competition in Lulu’s skin catalog is real though. Dragon Trainer exists at Legendary price with a full model rework, and Space Groove brought a completely different energy. Pool Party sits in the sweet spot of “affordable, clean, fun.” Not trying to reinvent Lulu, just giving her a summer outfit with solid VFX. For mains who want variety without dropping 1820 RP, this is the pick. Spammed this in Diamond last season during a 15-game Lulu streak one weekend and never got tired of the seal pup polymorph. Skip it if you already own Dragon Trainer and dont need a second skin, but for everyone else climbing with Lulu in their support pool, its an easy recommend.
