First time I saw Fisherman Fizz in a loading screen I thought someone was trolling. A tiny yordle in a rain hat holding a fishing rod instead of his trident. Played against it in a ranked game around season 3 and the guy absolutely destroyed our bot lane. Something about the goofy look makes you underestimate the Fizz player and then you’re eating a shark to the face at level 6.

What Fisherman Fizz actually changes

So the model swap is where most of the value sits. Fizz gets a full fisherman outfit: yellow raincoat, matching hat, rubber boots. The trident is replaced with a fishing rod which honestly looks great during auto attacks. Theres a certain charm watching him bonk people with it in lane.

The VFX changes are subtle but present. His E (Playful/Trickster) has adjusted water particles that fit the fishing theme. Q dash looks clean with the rod animation. Not gonna lie, the ult is the highlight. Instead of the standard shark, Fizz throws out a lure and a massive fish comes crashing up. Been running this in Diamond games on my Fizz alt and the ult visual always gets a reaction in all chat.

Voice lines stay base, no new VO here. Standard for a 975 RP skin from 2012. The recall is also default, which makes sense given when this dropped. Pre-recall-animation era. Simple change – huge impact on the overall feel though. Playing this skin, the fishing rod autos have a different rhythm to them that I swear helps with cs timing. Could be wrong here but it feels snappier.

The Day Job line and release context

Fisherman Fizz released April 1, 2012. April Fools day. Fitting for the most annoying champion in the game to get a comedy skin on that date. Part of the Day Job skinline which is one of Riot’s older thematic sets. The whole concept is champions with normal jobs. Fizz as a fisherman just works on every level.

Alex Konstad, Jon Neimeister, David Kegg, and Dirty Iron handled the artwork. Four artists on one splash, and they delivered something that holds up surprisingly well for its age. The composition captures the playful energy perfectly. (Random aside: I used this splash as my Discord avatar for like eight months back in season 10 I think.)

No chromas available for this one. Honestly dont think it needs them. The yellow raincoat is iconic at this point. Shop has it for 975 RP any time you want it. Permanent availability, no vault nonsense.

Should you pick up Fisherman Fizz?

Real verdict: this is a solid mid-tier Fizz skin that punches above its price point. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The fishing rod model and ult VFX carry the whole package. Played maybe 150 games with this across two seasons and it never got old.

If you’re a Fizz one-trick you probably already own this. If you’re deciding between this and Void Fizz at the same price, Fisherman has more personality. The Day Job fantasy is executed well and the skin reads clearly in teamfights. My duo partner spotted me from across the Rift last Tuesday specifically because of the yellow coat, which is both a pro and a con depending on how you look at it.

For Fizz mains climbing through ranked, this is a safe pickup. Not his flashiest skin, not trying to be. It’s the comfort pick. The one you lock in when you want to have fun while still hitting your E dodges and landing ults on the backline. Worth 975 RP if you main Fizz, skip it if you’re saving for a Legendary on another champ. Fair price for the package.
