First time I saw Blood Moon Jhin load into my game I actually paused mid-cs to look at the splash. Not even exaggerating. This was back in February 2017 and I remember thinking Riot finally gave Jhin a skin that matched how dramatic the champion already feels. Been running this in ranked ever since it dropped and honestly it still holds up years later.

The VFX carry this skin hard

Blood Moon Jhin takes everything theatrical about base Jhin and dials it up with this dark crimson aesthetic. The Q bouncing grenade leaves these red petal trails that feel satisfying to watch chain through a minion wave. Not gonna lie, the W is where it really shines though. That long-range snare lights up with this deep blood-red streak across the Rift and it reads so cleanly in teamfights when you’re trying to lock down the backline.

E traps get a visual overhaul too. They blend into the ground with this subtle oni mask motif which I think actually makes them slightly harder to spot in chaotic fights around dragon pit. Could be wrong here but I swear people walk into them more with this skin. Placebo or not, I’ll take it.

The ult though. Curtain Call with the Blood Moon theme is probably the single best reason to own this skin. Four shots, each one trailing red particles across the screen. Trapped their Jinx last Tuesday around 2 AM in a Diamond game and the fourth shot kill felt cinematic. The whole screen lights up crimson. For an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, the amount of VFX work here punches above its weight class.

Recall animation is new and fits the theme perfectly. Jhin performs this ritual with his mask, very on-brand for the Blood Moon fantasy. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but honestly Quinton Flynn’s original performance is strong enough that it doesnt feel like a miss.

Blood Moon and Jhin’s place in the line

The Blood Moon skinline is one of Riot’s longest-running thematic sets and Jhin fits it like he was designed for it. The whole idea of theatrical violence, masks, ritual performance. That’s literally Jhin’s entire identity as a champion. Released February 9, 2017, this was relatively early in the Blood Moon lineup expansion and it set a high bar.

Esben Lash Rasmussen nailed the splash. The composition has Jhin mid-performance with blood petals swirling around him. It captures the skin fantasy better than most Epic splashes manage. (Random aside: this splash was my desktop wallpaper for like eight months straight.)

No chromas available for Blood Moon Jhin. Kinda feels like a missed opportunity since a darker variant or a white/gold inversion could have been sick. But the base color palette of deep reds and blacks with gold accents works well enough on its own. Shop has it permanently so you can grab it whenever.

Should you lock in Blood Moon Jhin?

Real verdict: this is one of the best Epic skins in the game. Period. Been maining Jhin with this for multiple seasons and I keep coming back even after trying PROJECT and Shan Hai Scrolls. The VFX feel clean, the thematic fit is perfect, and 1350 RP feels fair for what you get.

If you’re a Jhin one-trick or even someone who pulls him out in comp when you need a scaling ADC with lane prio, Blood Moon is the skin. High Noon exists at Legendary price and yeah it’s good but Blood Moon gives you like 80% of that experience for less. Maybe just my experience but I see more Blood Moon Jhins in my Diamond games than any other Jhin skin, season 13 especially. There’s a reason for that.

Skip it only if you already own Dark Cosmic Erasure or High Noon and dont want redundancy. For everyone else this is first choice Jhin cosmetic. Simple change from base – huge impact on how the champion feels to play.
