Bewitching Janna

First time I saw Bewitching Janna load in was some random ARAM around Halloween 2018. My support duo was running it and I remember thinking the witch hat on Janna looked way better than it had any right to. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s something about the purple and orange color scheme that just works for her silhouette. Locked it in myself that same week.

What the skin actually changes on Janna

So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, which means you get new VFX across the board plus a custom recall animation. Voice lines stay base, no new VO here. The Q tornado swaps out to this swirling purple and orange wind effect with little bat particles flying around. Looks clean in lane and honestly reads better than base Janna Q in chaotic teamfights where theres too much visual noise already.

W passive trail gets the Halloween treatment too. Little ghostly wisps follow Janna around. The active portion sends out this spectral burst that fits the witch theme. E shield has a purple tint with tiny candy particles, which is a nice touch when you’re peeling for your ADC. The R channel is where it shines though. Full witch circle on the ground, bats spiraling outward during the heal. Used this ult to save a fed Jinx in dragon pit last Tuesday around 11 PM and the visual payoff was chef’s kiss.

Recall animation has Janna stirring a cauldron with her staff. Simple concept but well executed. She does this little giggle animation at the end. (Random aside: I set this recall to loop in practice tool once just to watch it, thats how smooth the animation is.)

The model itself puts Janna in a classic witch outfit. Purple dress, pointed hat, staff redesigned into a broomstick-wand hybrid. Bats and pumpkin motifs throughout. Nothing groundbreaking for the Bewitching line but Janna wears the theme naturally. The Bewitching skinline tends to lean into cute-spooky rather than actual horror and this fits that vibe perfectly.

Release info and the Bewitching lineup

Bewitching Janna dropped October 24, 2018. Right before Halloween, obviously. Alex ‘alexplank’ Flores nailed the splash art. The composition with Janna floating above a moonlit graveyard, bats everywhere, staff glowing. Portfolio piece material honestly.

The Bewitching line is one of Riot’s seasonal staples at this point. Janna fits in alongside Bewitching Nidalee, Bewitching Elise, and the rest of the Halloween crew. Kinda feels like Janna was almost designed for this theme given how her flowing animations translate to spooky particle work.

6 chromas total if you want variety. Rose Quartz is my personal pick, the pink witch aesthetic hits different in a Diamond ranked game where everyone expects dark colors. Golden goes hard too if you want that prestige-adjacent look without the prestige price tag. Ruby exists for the red lovers but I think it clashes with the Halloween palette a bit. Legacy vault skin so you cant just grab it whenever. Gotta wait for the vault rotation or get lucky with Hextech crafting. Been seeing maybe 2 of these per season in my games, which keeps it feeling somewhat rare even though it’s not technically limited.

Is Bewitching Janna worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: if you play Janna support regularly this is a strong pickup. Maybe not her absolute best skin since Star Guardian Janna and Sacred Sword Janna exist, but Bewitching holds its own. The VFX are clean without being distracting, which matters when you’re trying to track cooldowns in a messy bot lane engage. Could be wrong here but I think the Q animation is actually easier to read for enemies too, so keep that in mind for ranked.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Standard Epic pricing, above-average execution. The recall is fun, the particles are thematic, and the model looks good at game camera distance. Been running this every October since season 9 I think and it still holds up. Only real downside is the Legacy availability. If the vault opens and you main Janna, dont sleep on it. Skip if you already own Sacred Sword though, that one edges it out for pure visual quality. For everyone else who plays Janna in their support rotation, Bewitching Janna earns its spot. Solid Halloween skin that does exactly what an Epic should do without overcomplicating it.
