First game I played with Super Kennen was last March in a Diamond 3 promo and I genuinely forgot I wasnt on base skin for about two minutes. Then the Q flew out and the VFX hit different. Not sure if it’s just me but something about a tiny yordle in a superhero outfit throwing electrified shurikens just works. The cape alone sold me.
What Super Kennen actually brings to the table
For a 750 RP Standard tier skin, Riot gave Kennen more than you’d expect. New VFX on the abilities. The Q shuriken gets this bright energy trail that reads cleaner against dark Rift backgrounds, especially around baron pit. Voice lines stay base, no new recall animation either, but honestly for the price point thats fine.
The model itself is a full superhero redesign. Kennen rocks a blue and red suit with a proper cape, mask, and the whole Silver Age comic book aesthetic. Played maybe 40 games with it across two weeks in solo queue and the auto attack animations feel snappier visually. Could be wrong here but the E lightning rush looks slightly more saturated than default. Hard to tell without side by side comparison.
Teamfight clarity is solid. When you ult in a packed dragon fight, the VFX pop enough that your team can actually see the zone. Been running this in Diamond and never had a support ping me confused about where my R landed. Small thing but matters when you’re trying to peel or engage on the backline.
Silver Age and the release window
Super Kennen dropped March 29, 2017. Part of the Silver Age skinline, which is Riot’s love letter to old school comic books. Pan Chengwei nailed the splash. The pose is classic superhero landing, lightning crackling everywhere, cape mid-flutter. (Random aside: I had this splash as my desktop wallpaper for like three months back in season 7.)
The Silver Age line doesn’t get enough credit. It’s a small collection but the execution is tight. Kennen fits the theme naturally because the whole “lightning yordle ninja” concept already reads like a comic book origin story. Real talk though, the skin feels like it belongs in a Saturday morning cartoon and I mean that as a compliment.
No chromas available for this one. Shop has it at 750 RP permanently so you can grab it whenever. No vault rotation nonsense, no loot gambling required.
Should you lock in Super Kennen?
Verdict time. 750 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX upgrade alone puts it above most skins at this price. If you’re a Kennen main climbing through ranked, this is a clean option that won’t distract you with over the top particles during lane phase. Played this into a Darius top lane last Tuesday around midnight and the visual clarity on Q poke was genuinely helpful for spacing.
Now. Kennen has other options. Arctic Ops is the tryhard pick, Blood Moon has that aesthetic, Infernal goes hard on the fire theme. But Super Kennen sits in this sweet spot where it’s affordable and still looks good in game. Best budget Kennen skin full stop. If you’re not ready to spend 1350 on something flashier, this is the one.
Skip it if you already own Infernal or Blood Moon and dont care about collecting. But for anyone who mains Kennen and wants variety in their rotation without dropping serious RP, 750 is nothing. Been coming back to this skin every few weeks since I bought it. The cape never gets old. Kinda feels like Riot underpriced it honestly.
