Ruined Miss Fortune

First game I loaded this skin into, my duo typed “why does MF look possessed” in champ select. Fair question. Ruined Miss Fortune dropped right in the middle of the Sentinels of Light event and honestly it hit harder than most event skins do. The whole corrupted aesthetic works on Miss Fortune in a way I wasnt expecting. Something about the teal-black energy clashing with her usual confident stance just reads well on the Rift.

What the Ruination actually changes

This is a 1350 RP Epic tier skin so you’re getting new VFX, a new recall, and updated ability particles. No new voice lines though. Voice stays default. The visual direction leans heavy into the Ruined palette: dark purples, ghostly teal highlights, and that signature Black Mist energy wrapping around everything.

Her Q bounces carry that spectral teal trail now. Solid change. The W activation has this brief mist flare that looks clean in lane, especially when you pop it to trade in bot. Her E, Make It Rain, drops corrupted energy instead of the usual bullets. Looks menacing. Honestly the E is where this skin shines hardest because the ground effect reads really well in teamfights. You know what surprised me? The R channel. Bullet Time gets the full Ruination treatment with dark projectiles streaming out and it looks genuinely threatening. Been running this in Diamond games and the ult visual pressure feels real, like enemy backline players respect it more.

The recall animation ties into the Ruination event narrative. Miss Fortune gets consumed by the Black Mist energy, kneeling as it overtakes her. Not gonna lie, it’s one of the more dramatic recalls for a 1350 skin. (Random aside: I’ve used this recall to BM after winning a 2v2 in bot lane more times than I’d like to admit.)

Model-wise she’s wearing corrupted armor with exposed Ruined energy across her outfit. The guns got redesigned with that same ghostly glow. Hair goes pale. The whole silhouette reads differently from base Miss Fortune which is what you want at this price point.

The Ruined line and where MF fits

Ruined Miss Fortune released July 22, 2021 during the massive Sentinels of Light event. Season 11 stuff. Jeremy ‘Jermu’ Anninos nailed the splash, capturing that moment of corruption perfectly. The Ruined skinline hit a bunch of champions that patch: Pantheon, Karma, Shyvana, Draven. Miss Fortune was arguably the most natural fit because her character already walks that line between controlled and chaotic.

The Ruined theme as a whole had mixed reception from the community. Some people thought the event was rushed. Could be wrong here but I think the actual skins were better than the event deserved. Miss Fortune’s version especially holds up years later. Played maybe 200 games with this one across season 11 and 12 before rotating to other options.

9 chromas available for Ruined Miss Fortune. Obsidian is my personal pick, turns the whole vibe even darker and the corrupted energy pops against that near-black base. Sapphire swaps the palette to a cold blue that reminds me of Freljord aesthetics. Then there’s Cursed, the event-exclusive chroma with gold accents on black. That one’s harder to find now. Most of the others are fine but those three stand out.

Should you pick up Ruined Miss Fortune?

Real verdict: 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX package is strong, the model is distinct, and the thematic commitment is there. Miss Fortune has a massive skin catalog at this point and Ruined sits comfortably in the upper half. Not the absolute best MF skin, that’s still a fight between Gun Goddess and Star Guardian depending on who you ask. But for an Epic tier purchase this delivers.

If you main Miss Fortune and you like darker aesthetics, this is a no-brainer. Shop has it, permanent availability. Been spamming ADC less this season but every time I lock in MF for a ranked game around 1 AM on a weeknight, Ruined is still in my rotation. The skin just fits the champion’s energy. Kinda feels like Riot understood the assignment here even if the broader event stumbled.

Skip it if you only play Miss Fortune casually or if you already own Captain Fortune for the lore angle. But for mains? Worth 1350 if you main MF. The Ruination fantasy on a marksman champion just works, and three years later the VFX still hold up against newer releases. Top pick for Miss Fortune mains who want something with edge.
