Recon Teemo

First time I saw Recon Teemo was back in season 2, maybe season 3. Some dude in my ranked game locked in Teemo top with this skin and proceeded to make the enemy Darius ragequit before level 6. Might be overthinking it but that game sold me on the whole military fantasy for this little rat. Been a while since then and I still think it holds up for what it is.

What Recon Teemo actually looks like in game

So this is a Standard tier skin at 750 RP. You get a full model swap and thats about it. Teemo trades his scout outfit for olive drab military gear, complete with a helmet, goggles pushed up on his forehead, and a camo pattern across his body. The blowdart gun gets a militarized look too. Darker palette overall. Fits the whole recon operative vibe.

No new VFX. No new recall animation. Voice stays default. Your shrooms look exactly the same, your Q blind dart is the same particle. Real talk though, for a skin from December 17, 2009, expecting anything beyond a texture swap would be ridiculous. This predates the era where Riot started adding custom particles to anything below Epic tier.

The color scheme works well on Summoner’s Rift. The dark green and brown tones blend into the brush better than base Teemo, which is kind of hilarious for a champion whose entire kit revolves around sitting in bushes. Played maybe 200 games with this skin back when I was climbing through Gold and I swear enemies walked into my shrooms more often. Placebo? Probably. But the stealth fantasy hits harder when your character actually looks like hes trying to hide.

The Legacy catalog and release context

Recon Teemo dropped December 17, 2009. We’re talking pre-season one. League was barely a game at that point. Jiunn Kuo and Kudos Productions handled the splash art, and honestly for 2009 standards the splash reads clean. Military Teemo crouching in foliage with that serious expression on a yordle face. Cracks me up every time.

This sits in the Legacy pool. You cant just walk into the shop and grab it. Hextech only these days, or you wait for one of those rare vault openings Riot does around events. The Legacy skinline has a bunch of older skins locked away like this. Some deserved, some not. Recon Teemo falls in that weird middle ground where its not rare enough to flex but not available enough to be common.

750 RP feels fair for what you get. Standard pricing for a model swap with no bells and whistles. Could be wrong here but I think this was actually cheaper at some point before Riot adjusted their price tiers. Not gonna confirm that though, memory is fuzzy on the exact timeline.

Should you hunt for Recon Teemo?

Straight talk: if you main Teemo and you’re rolling Hextech chests hoping for a specific skin, dont hold your breath for this one. Teemo has a massive skin catalog. Omega Squad exists. Little Devil exists. Beemo exists. All of those blow Recon out of the water in terms of VFX and overall quality.

But there’s something about the simplicity. Last Tuesday around 2 AM I was in a Diamond ranked game, locked in Teemo for a counter pick top lane, and scrolled past Recon in my collection. Used it on impulse. The military aesthetic just hits different when you’re placing shrooms at dragon pit entrances like actual landmines. No flashy particles distracting you from the poke game, no over-the-top recall animation. Just a yordle doing recon work.

Skip this if you want spectacle. Keep it if you appreciate old school League skins and the charm of a 2009 model that somehow still works in the modern Rift. Worth 750 RP if you main Teemo and stumble into it from a chest. Not worth actively chasing when better options exist in the shop permanently.
