Porcelain Lux

First game I played with Porcelain Lux I remember thinking this looked way more expensive than 1350 RP. Loaded into a ranked game around midnight, locked in Lux support, and the splash alone had my duo asking what skin that was. The whole porcelain ceramic aesthetic just works on her kit in a way I wasnt expecting. Clean whites, soft blues, intricate gold detailing on the staff. Feels premium.

What Porcelain Lux actually brings to the table

So the VFX overhaul here is the main selling point. Q fires off this porcelain-blue binding that reads crisp against the Rift. Honestly one of the cleaner snare visuals across all Lux skins. The E zone has this subtle ceramic pattern that pulses before it pops, and it doesn’t clutter your screen during teamfights which is a massive plus when you’re trying to peel for your ADC.

R is where it really shines though. Big porcelain laser beam with gold edges. Not gonna lie, the ult VFX on this skin might be top three across all Lux skins. Been spamming this in Diamond for a while now and the beam just feels satisfying to land. Could be wrong here but I think the particles read slightly thinner than base, which actually helps with aiming in lane.

The recall animation is a standout. Lux does this elegant tea ceremony thing with a porcelain set. Fits the theme perfectly. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but Carrie Keranen’s original performance holds up fine. The skin doesn’t need new lines to sell the fantasy.

One thing I noticed after maybe 30 games: the auto attack particles have this soft ceramic ping to them. Subtle detail but it makes csing in mid lane feel different. Good different. Played this into a Katarina last week and the visual clarity on E was genuinely helpful for tracking her daggers against my zone.

The Porcelain line and release context

Porcelain Lux dropped January 26, 2022. Lunar New Year event skin. The Porcelain skinline that year was stacked. Lux, Kindred, Ezreal, Lissandra all got skins. Felt like Riot put real effort into the thematic.

Forrest Imel and West Studio handled the splash art. They cooked. The composition has Lux in this flowing white and blue outfit with gold filigree, porcelain fox companion sitting beside her. Splash is wallpaper-worthy. (Random aside: I actually did set this as my desktop background for a solid two months.)

9 chromas total which is generous for an Epic. Obsidian is my personal pick, the dark porcelain look hits completely different from base. Sapphire leans into a deeper blue that reads almost royal. Golden Tiger was the event-exclusive one tied to the Lunar New Year missions, kinda rare to see now. Not sure if it’s just me but Pearl feels redundant when the base skin is already white and gold.

Is Porcelain Lux worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is a strong Epic. Lux has like 15 skins at this point and Porcelain genuinely competes for top three. The VFX package is above average for the price tier. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get here.

If you’re a Lux main climbing through ranked this season, Porcelain is the kind of skin that looks expensive without the Legendary price tag. The visual clarity on abilities is actually better than some of her pricier options. Kinda feels like Riot found the sweet spot between flashy and functional.

Where I’d push back: if you already own Dark Cosmic or Elementalist, the novelty wears off faster. Those skins do more mechanically. But for pure aesthetics and clean gameplay feel, Porcelain Lux is hard to beat at this price point. Shop has it permanently, no vault rotation to worry about. Worth 1350 if you main Lux. Season 12 skin that still holds up in season 14 and honestly I think it ages better than half the Legendaries in her catalog.

Skip it if you dont play Lux regularly though. Nine chromas is a lot of extra investment for a champion you pull out once every 20 games. But for one-tricks and Lux mains specifically, this is an easy buy. Top pick for Lux mains who want something elegant without dropping 1820.
