First time I saw Pool Party Zac load into a game I thought someone modded the client. Zac already looks like a blob of jelly, so turning him into a literal pool toy felt almost too on the nose. But it works. Played maybe 40 games with this thing during season 5 and it just stuck in my rotation ever since.
What Pool Party Zac actually brings to the table
So the whole concept is Zac as a water balloon. His body shifts from that toxic green to a translucent blue with pool water sloshing around inside him. Thats the core visual hook and honestly it carries the skin harder than most Epic skins manage. The stretchy animations read differently when you know its supposed to be water physics instead of goo physics.
VFX got a full rework for this one. His Q slap has a water splash effect that feels cleaner than base. E launch sends water droplets scattering, and when you land on the backline in a teamfight there’s this big splash zone that reads beautifully. Not gonna lie, the E engage with this skin just hits different visually. You see the shadow coming down and then this massive pool splash erupts. Real satisfying.
W pulses out rings of water instead of the goo splatter. Subtle change but after 200 games you notice it. R is where things get fun though. Scooping people up as a giant water blob bouncing around the Rift? Comedy. The water trail it leaves behind during the bounces adds a lot of personality. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is expected at this price point. Standard for 1350 RP Epics from 2015.
The recall animation is the real gem here. Zac inflates himself into a pool floatie shape and just vibes. Been using this in Diamond games specifically to tilt the enemy jungler after stealing their blue. Small things. (Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I use this skin because the recall sound distracts him in lane.)
Pool Party line and the 2015 summer drop
Pool Party Zac released June 25, 2015. Peak summer event territory. Sixmorevodka Studio handled the artwork, they captured the pool party energy perfectly with Zac cannonballing into the frame.
The Pool Party skinline is one of Riot’s most consistent themes. Been running since 2013 I think, and every summer batch adds something fun. Zac fits the Pool Party fantasy more naturally than most champions in the line. Like, some champs you gotta stretch the concept. With Zac it’s literally just “what if the blob was water instead of chemicals.” Clean design logic.
No chromas on this one. Zero. Kinda surprised Riot never went back and added some because a red lava lamp Zac or a yellow lemonade variant would sell. But as of right now its just the base blue water look. Shop has it, 1350 RP, permanent availability so no vault stress.
Should you lock in Pool Party Zac?
Real verdict: this is the best casual Zac skin if you dont want to go full tryhard with SKT or Battlecast. The water theme gives Zac a personality that base just doesnt have. Could be wrong here but I think it’s aged better than most 2015 Epics. The VFX hold up, the concept is timeless, and the recall alone is worth the entry fee.
1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Not overpriced, not a steal. If you’re a Zac main climbing through ranked this season, you probably already own it. If you dont, its the skin I’d recommend first before looking at the newer options. Played this last Tuesday in a late night session around 1 AM and had two people in post-game ask what skin it was. That says something about the visual clarity.
Skip it only if you already have Empyrean or Space Groove and feel covered. For everyone else who jungles Zac even occasionally, Pool Party is the one. S-tier Zac cosmetic. The water balloon fantasy just works too well to ignore, and after all these seasons it still gets compliments in the post-game lobby. Worth the RP if you main Zac, period.
