First time I saw Nightbringer Yasuo load into a game I actually stopped moving for a second. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s something about the way the model just radiates chaos energy that hits different from every other Yasuo skin. This was back in 2017 and I remember thinking Riot finally gave Yasuo mains the premium treatment they’d been begging for since season 4. Been running this skin on and off for years now and I still think it holds up against everything that came after.

What Nightbringer Yasuo actually brings to the table

So this is a full Legendary at 1820 RP and it earns that price tag. New model, new VFX, new voice lines, new recall animation. The whole package. Yasuo looks like he stepped out of some demonic forge, all cracked skin with fire bleeding through the seams. His sword is this massive jagged thing that glows with dark flame energy. Clean design.

The Q is where you notice the biggest change in lane. Steel Tempest shoots out these dark fire projectiles and the third Q tornado is this swirling vortex of red and black that honestly reads better than base in teamfights. You can actually track it through the chaos of a 5v5, which matters when you’re trying to land that knockup on the backline. W wind wall has this demonic barrier look, way more intimidating than the standard blue wall. Feels like dropping a real threat on the Rift.

E dashes leave behind these fiery trails. Kinda feels like you’re painting the lane with destruction every time you dash through minions pre-6. Its satisfying in a way thats hard to explain unless you’ve spammed 30 games of Yasuo in a row. The ult though. Last Breath goes absolutely wild with Nightbringer. The slam-down has this massive dark energy explosion, red particles everywhere, and the camera angle combined with the new effects makes every ult feel like a highlight clip. Played maybe 200 games with this skin and the ult never gets old.

Liam O’Brien voices this version of Yasuo and the new VO carries hard. The lines are darker, more menacing. He’s not the wandering ronin anymore, he’s something corrupted and powerful. The voice processing gives it weight without going full monster filter. Real talk though, the recall animation is sick too. Yasuo channels this dark energy sphere, the ground cracks beneath him. One of the better recalls in the game even now.

The Nightbringer and Dawnbringer line

Nightbringer Yasuo dropped June 14, 2017 alongside Dawnbringer Riven. The whole Nightbringer and Dawnbringer skinline was built around this cosmic duality concept and Yasuo was the chaos half. Alex ‘alexplank’ Flores nailed the splash, the composition with Yasuo mid-swing surrounded by dark fire is still one of my phone wallpapers (random aside: had to crop it weird to fit my screen but worth it).

The Nightbringer and Dawnbringer line expanded a lot since then but this original pair set the standard. Season 7 I think, maybe late into it. The event had missions and everything, felt like a big deal at the time. Riot was really pushing the versus event format and this was probably the peak of it.

One chroma exists for Nightbringer Yasuo. Pariah. Deep crimson and near-black color scheme that shifts the fire effects darker. Honestly the Pariah chroma is more subtle than you’d expect, it doesnt dramatically change the vibe but it does give you an option if you want something slightly different from the base orange-red palette. Could be wrong here but I think the base skin colors actually read better in game.

Is Nightbringer Yasuo worth 1820 RP?

Straight talk: this was the definitive Yasuo skin for years and it still competes. Spirit Blossom Yasuo is beautiful, Truth Dragon is flashy, but Nightbringer has this raw aggressive energy that matches how most Yasuo players actually play the champion. You lock in Yasuo to dive, to outplay, to 1v5 in teamfights. Nightbringer fits that fantasy perfectly.

The Legendary price feels fair for what you get. Full new VO, completely redone VFX on every ability, a model that still looks modern almost seven years later. Shop has it permanently so no need to wait for a vault rotation or anything. If you’re climbing on Yasuo this season and want one skin to commit to, this or Spirit Blossom are your two real options.

Been maining Yasuo with this skin in Diamond for stretches and I’ll say the animations feel slightly different from base. Not in a gameplay-affecting way, just the flow of Q combos and E dashes has a different rhythm visually. Some Yasuo one-tricks swear it throws off their timing, others say it feels smoother. Last Tuesday around 2 AM I was spamming ranked and switched back to base after a loss streak, immediately went back to Nightbringer next game because the default model felt empty.

Worth 1820 RP if you main Yasuo. Skip it if you only play him occasionally because you won’t appreciate the VO changes and that’s half the value. For dedicated Yasuo players though, this is arguably the best Yasuo skin if you want something aggressive over aesthetic. The Yasuo skin if you can only own one from the darker side of his catalog.
