First game I loaded this up was around 1 AM on a Tuesday, queued top in Diamond, and the loading screen splash alone had me sold. Inkshadow Renekton takes the crocodile and runs him through this ink-brush aesthetic that honestly works better than it has any right to. Been maining Renekton on and off since season 7, and something about this skin just clicks with how aggressive the champion feels in lane.

The ink-brush treatment on Renekton

So the Inkshadow line leans heavy into East Asian calligraphy and watercolor vibes. Renekton gets this washed-out ink palette across his whole model, dark blacks bleeding into grays and whites like someone painted him with a single brushstroke. His blade has that wet-ink sheen to it. Clean work.

Not gonna lie, the model carries this skin. Renekton’s silhouette already reads well in teamfights because of the massive blade, and the Inkshadow version makes him pop against the Rift background even harder. The armor plating has these flowing ink patterns that remind me of traditional scroll paintings. Could be wrong here but I think the texture detail on the shoulders is some of the best work theyve done on a Renekton skin period.

Voice lines stay base, which is expected for an Epic at 1350 RP. No new VO refresh. The skin doesn’t come with new VFX either, so your Q/W/E/R all read the same as default Renekton. That’s the one thing holding this back from being a top-tier pick. When you’re diving the backline and proccing your empowered W stun, it would hit different with ink-splash particles. But Riot kept it simple here.

(Random aside: my duo partner who plays jungle asked me if this was a Legendary when he saw the splash. It’s not. But I get why he thought that.)

Where Inkshadow Renekton fits in the lineup

The Inkshadow skinline includes some heavy hitters. Yasuo, Kai’Sa, Udyr, Volibear, and a few others all got the treatment. Renekton fits the theme naturally because the crocodile already has that warrior energy the line is going for. Kinda feels like Riot designed the whole set around champions who fight up close and personal.

Compared to other Renekton skins, this sits in a weird spot. You’ve got Project Renekton if you want sci-fi, Blackfrost if you want the ice theme, Pool Party for the meme pick. Inkshadow is for when you want something that looks artistic without being flashy. Subtle flex in champ select. I’ve seen maybe 4 or 5 of these in my ranked games all season, so it’s not oversaturated either.

8 chromas total if you want to switch things up. Obsidian goes full dark mode, which I think reads the cleanest in-game especially during late-game teamfights. Sapphire adds a blue wash that pops hard against the base ink style. Rose Quartz is an interesting pick if you want something softer, though honestly on Renekton “softer” feels wrong. Shop has it, permanent availability.

Should you lock in Inkshadow Renekton?

Straight talk: this is a solid Epic skin that does exactly what it needs to do. The model work is excellent, the theme fits Renekton better than half his catalog, and the Inkshadow line has enough prestige behind it that you wont feel like you picked a throwaway cosmetic. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get.

The missing VFX hurt. I’m not going to pretend they don’t. When you’re spamming Q in a wave trying to build fury pre-6, base particles on a premium skin feel off. But the model alone makes up for it in lane. Playing this skin, the auto attack animations feel crisp with the ink-styled blade. Might be overthinking it but I swear the W animation reads faster visually even though it’s identical.

If you main Renekton and you’re tired of cycling between Scorched Earth and Pool Party, Inkshadow is worth the pickup. It’s not going to replace a Legendary experience but for the price point it delivers. Top pick for Renekton mains who want something that looks clean without the over-the-top effects. Been daily driving this for a couple months now and I keep coming back to it over flashier options in my collection. That says something.
