First time I saw Haunting Nocturne load in was season 2, maybe early season 3. Some random jungle Nocturne on the enemy team. Scared the hell out of me when his ult went off because the model just looked wrong in the best way. Like genuinely unsettling. Been a fan of this skin ever since even though I dont play Nocturne that often myself.

What Haunting Nocturne actually brings

So this is a Standard tier skin at 975 RP, which means you’re not getting a full overhaul. Voice lines stay base. No new recall animation either. But what you do get is a solid visual rework of Nocturne’s model and some tweaked VFX that lean hard into the Halloween horror vibe.

The model turns Nocturne into this tattered ghostly figure. Think classic horror movie specter. The blades on his arms look more like jagged bone fragments than the usual shadow tendrils. Kinda feels like Riot took the “living nightmare” concept and pushed it toward “actual ghost haunting your ranked games at 2 AM on a Tuesday.”

VFX changes are subtle but present. His Q trail reads darker, more spectral. The Paranoia ult still does what it always does visually but the color shift on Nocturne himself during the dash looks cleaner against the Rift. Not sure if it’s just me but his W shield also has a slightly different particle color. Could be placebo, could be real. Either way when you’re diving the backline and popping spell shield, the skin feels right.

No new voice lines from Jason Wishnov here. Standard voice, no changes. For 975 RP thats expected. The base Nocturne VO is already pretty creepy so it works fine with the aesthetic.

The Trick-or-Treat line and where this fits

Haunting Nocturne dropped October 19, 2011. Right before Halloween, obviously. Part of the Trick-or-Treat skinline alongside stuff like Kitty Cat Katarina and Bewitching Nidalee. The Trick-or-Treat skins are some of Riot’s oldest thematic releases and honestly Nocturne is one of the champions who fits a Halloween theme most naturally. Dude is literally a nightmare creature.

No splash artist credited in the data for this one. Early Riot splash era. The splash itself is decent for its age, shows Nocturne hovering over what looks like a graveyard scene. Nothing groundbreaking but it gets the job done.

Legacy vault skin. So you cant just grab it whenever you want. Hextech only these days unless Riot brings it back during a Halloween event rotation. Seen maybe two of these in my Diamond games all of last season. (Random aside: Legacy Halloween skins always spike in value right around October and then everyone forgets they exist by November.)

Zero chromas on this one. Not surprising given the age and tier.

Should you pick up Haunting Nocturne?

Real verdict: this is a solid budget Nocturne skin if you can get your hands on it. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The model change alone carries it. Been running into more Nocturne players recently, especially in lower Diamond where people pick him for the free ganking pressure pre-6 and the guaranteed dive potential post-6. If you’re a Nocturne main looking for something with personality that isnt Eternum, this is a good alternative.

Might be overthinking it but I think the Trick-or-Treat skins have a charm that newer skinlines dont always capture. Simple change – huge impact on the feel. Haunting Nocturne leans into what makes the champion scary without overdesigning it. Skip this if you already own Eternum or Cursed Revenant since those offer more for the money. But for collectors and Nocturne one-tricks who want every skin in the rotation, Haunting Nocturne earns its spot. Worth 975 RP if you main Nocturne, no question. Just gotta wait for a vault opening or get lucky with a chest drop, season 14 I think they had one around Worlds.
