First game I played with Cyber Cat Yuumi was around 2 AM on a Tuesday, queued up for a Diamond ranked game and honestly wasnt expecting much. Yuumi skins tend to be hit or miss because half the time you’re attached to someone else and barely see your own model. But this one caught me off guard. The mech-cat aesthetic works way better than it has any right to, and the Anima Squad theme gives Yuumi a look that actually feels like she belongs in a sci-fi universe instead of just being a floating book cat.

What Cyber Cat Yuumi actually changes

So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, which means new VFX and a new recall animation. Voice lines stay default, no new VO. The model redesign is the star here. Yuumi gets a full mech suit with glowing neon accents, and Book gets replaced with what looks like a holographic data pad. Clean redesign.

The Q missile now fires with this bright energy trail that reads well in teamfights. Been running this in my Diamond games for a few months and I can say the Q particles are actually easier to track than base Yuumi’s, which matters when you’re trying to land poke from your ADC’s shoulder. The W attach animation has subtle digital effects, kinda feels like a data transfer instead of just hopping onto someone.

Not gonna lie, the E heal VFX surprised me. There’s this circuit-board pattern that pulses outward when you heal, and it looks sharp against the Rift. The R waves got the full treatment too. Each wave has distinct neon edges that make it easier for your team to see the zone. Played maybe 30 games in a row one weekend just spamming Yuumi with this skin and the ult VFX alone justified the purchase for me.

Recall animation is cute without being obnoxious. Yuumi does this little mech transformation sequence. Short and sweet.

The Anima Squad connection and release details

Cyber Cat Yuumi dropped July 17, 2024. Mid-season 14. Julia Yurtsev nailed the splash, the composition puts Yuumi front and center in full battle-mech mode with energy particles flying everywhere. Solid portfolio piece.

The Anima Squad skinline is one of Riot’s better modern thematics. It started strong with the first batch and this second wave kept the quality up. Yuumi fits the line naturally because, well, she’s literally a cat and the whole Anima Squad concept leans into animal-mech hybrids. Could be wrong here but I think this is one of the more thematically coherent Anima Squad picks they’ve made.

10 chromas total, which is a lot for any skin. Amethyst is my personal pick because the deep purple on the mech suit reads like a proper villain variant. Nightwire has this orange and blue contrast that pops hard in lane. Pearl goes clean and minimal if thats your vibe. I haven’t tried every single one but those three cover the range pretty well. Shop has it, permanent availability, so no rush.

How it stacks up for Yuumi mains

Real talk though. Yuumi has a decent skin catalog at this point. Heartseeker is the classic pick, Bewitching has its fans, and Shiba Yuumi exists for the dog-person Yuumi mains (sidebar: the irony of a cat champion having a dog skin still gets me). EDG is solid but locked behind an esports moment. So where does Cyber Cat land?

I think it sits comfortably in the top three. The VFX work is noticeably above average for an Epic skin. Might be overthinking it but the particle clarity on Q and R actually feels like a slight gameplay advantage in chaotic teamfights where visual noise matters. Season 14 had some wild comps with engage and disengage happening simultaneously, and being able to clearly see your own ult waves helps with timing.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. You’re not getting new voice lines, which keeps it from being a must-buy, but the model, VFX, and recall all deliver. Worth the price if you main Yuumi or even just have her in rotation for when your team needs an enchanter and you want to chill. Had this skin equipped for three months straight before I even considered switching back.

(Random aside: the splash art has been my Discord avatar since release and nobody has guessed it’s Yuumi without me telling them. The mech design is that different from her base look.)

Skip it if you already own Bewitching and don’t care about the sci-fi aesthetic. But for Yuumi one-tricks specifically, this is S-tier. The Anima Squad theme elevated a champion that honestly needed a skin with some edge to it. Been daily driving Cyber Cat Yuumi since it dropped and I keep coming back even after trying the newer options. Best modern Yuumi skin, and the chroma selection means you can match whatever mood you’re in for that ranked grind.
