First time I saw Cosmic Matriarch Bel’Veth load into a game, I thought someone was running a custom skin. The color palette shift from her base void horror into this deep galactic purple caught me completely off guard. Been running Bel’Veth jungle on and off since her release, and this is the skin that made me lock her in more consistently around late season 13.
What Cosmic Matriarch actually changes
The VFX overhaul is where this skin earns its 1350 RP. Her Q dashes leave these cosmic trails that look like streaks of nebula dust across the Rift. Not gonna lie, the particles on her W slam feel heavier than base, which is weird because its purely visual but the impact reads better in teamfights. The E damage reduction zone shifts from void purple to this deep space indigo with scattered star particles floating inside.
Her R transformation is the highlight. When Bel’Veth consumes a void coral and pops into true form, the cosmic VFX layer on top of her manta ray shape with constellations running across the wings. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last September and the true form still looks clean every time. The auto attack swipes have these little starbursts on hit that proc a satisfying visual rhythm when you’re shredding through jungle clear.
Recall animation is new. She creates this miniature galaxy between her arms before diving into it. Short, elegant, doesnt overstay its welcome. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is fine because Bel’Veth’s base voice work already carries weight.
The Cosmic line and where Bel’Veth fits
Released August 30, 2023. The Cosmic skinline has been one of Riot’s more consistent thematic lines. Cosmic Reaver Kassadin, Cosmic Enchantress Lulu, Cosmic Destiny Nami – there’s a pattern of turning champions into celestial entities and it works. Bel’Veth fits naturally because her base design already has that otherworldly scale to it. Swapping void for cosmos is a lateral move that lands.
Exia Xiaotong and West Studio handled the splash. They cooked. The composition places Bel’Veth at the center of a collapsing galaxy, her manta form spreading across the canvas like she’s consuming star systems. (Random aside: this splash has been my desktop wallpaper since patch 13.16 and nobody at work has questioned it yet.) The color work specifically sells the skin better than the in-game model does, which I think is true for most Cosmic skins.
8 chromas total. Obsidian is the standout for me, turns the whole cosmic palette into this dark matter vibe that reads menacing on the Rift. Amethyst pushes deeper into purple territory and honestly looks closer to what I expected base Cosmic Matriarch to be. Pearl goes the opposite direction, almost white with faint blue accents, clean but maybe too bright for a champion thats supposed to feel threatening. The rest fill standard slots. Ruby exists for completion.
Is Cosmic Matriarch Bel’Veth worth 1350 RP?
Real verdict: this is the best Bel’Veth skin if you main her. Could be wrong here but I think the Cosmic VFX read more clearly in lane and in teamfights than Battle Boss or base. The true form transformation specifically looks like it belongs at this price point. Might be overthinking it but the cosmic particle effects on her passive stacks feel easier to track than the default void ones, which gave me slightly better awareness of my attack speed scaling in a ranked game last Thursday around midnight.
1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across all abilities, solid recall, strong splash. No new voice filter which would have pushed it further, but for an Epic tier skin this delivers. Shop has it, permanent availability. If you’re grinding Bel’Veth in the jungle this season, Cosmic Matriarch is the pick. S-tier Bel’Veth cosmetic. Skip Battle Boss unless you prefer the arcade aesthetic, but for pure visual quality on the Rift, this one wins.
