First game I played with Battlecast Nasus was a late night ranked session, probably around 1 AM on a Wednesday. Locked it in top lane against a Darius and immediately noticed how different the whole vibe feels. Not gonna lie, the mechanical dog fantasy caught me off guard. Been maining Nasus on and off since season 6 and this skin shifted my perception of the champion entirely. Heavy industrial feel, like Nasus got pulled out of some Viktor experiment gone right.

What Battlecast Nasus actually brings to the table

The model rework here is solid. Nasus goes full mech, robotic limbs, armored plating, glowing red energy lines running through his body. His staff transforms into this massive hydraulic weapon that looks like it could crack open Baron pit. Voice stays default, no new lines, but the skin doesnt need them because the visual package carries hard enough.

Q stacks hit different visually. Every Siphoning Strike lands with new red-orange VFX that pulse outward from the impact point. Feels heavier than base, which I think actually helps with the gameplay loop. Could be wrong here but the auto-reset animation looks slightly cleaner too. Spirit Fire (E) drops this industrial zone on the ground, red gridlines and mechanical debris instead of the usual purple circle. Reads well in teamfights, your team can actually see where the armor shred zone is.

Wither (W) shoots out these red targeting lasers. Simple change – huge impact on the visual clarity. And the ult. When you pop Fury of the Sands, Nasus bulks up with additional plating and the red energy intensifies across his frame. Played maybe 40 games with the ult active in Diamond lobbies and the intimidation factor is real. People respect your zone more when you look like a walking tank factory.

Recall animation is new. Nasus does this mechanical transformation sequence, parts shifting and recalibrating. Clean execution. Three things stood out overall: Q impact VFX, the ult transformation, and how the model reads from the enemy perspective in lane.

The Battlecast line and where Nasus fits

Battlecast released November 12, 2020. Deep into season 10, right before preseason chaos. Malex Zhang and Kudos Productions handled the splash, and they nailed the industrial aesthetic. The splash captures Nasus mid-stride with that mechanical fury, red energy bleeding through every joint.

The Battlecast skinline is one of Riot’s older thematic universes. Viktor’s creations, basically. Nasus joins Cho’Gath, Kog’Maw, Skarner, Vel’Koz, Xerath, and Urgot in the roster. Kinda feels like Nasus was a natural fit for Battlecast considering his stacking fantasy translates well into a “machine that gets stronger over time” narrative. The skinline peaked with Battlecast Prime Cho’Gath but Nasus holds his own.

8 chromas total for Battlecast Nasus. Obsidian is my pick, the dark plating with subtle highlights looks menacing in the top lane specifically. Tanzanite shifts the energy lines to purple which gives off more of a void-mech hybrid vibe. Pearl goes white and clean, almost Lancer Paragon energy if you want that heroic robot look. (Random aside: the Catseye chroma with yellow accents reminds me of a construction vehicle and I cant unsee it now.)

Permanent shop skin. 1350 RP, Epic tier. Standard pricing for the Battlecast line entry.

Should you pick up Battlecast Nasus?

Real verdict: this is a top three Nasus skin. Might be overthinking it but I rank it behind Infernal and maybe tied with Space Groove depending on your taste. The mechanical theme gives Nasus a completely different identity without losing what makes him feel like Nasus. You still get that slow inevitable scaling monster marching down your lane, just wrapped in steel and red energy instead of Shuriman gold.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, solid recall, strong model. Voice pack is base only, which is the one area where it falls short of skins like Infernal, but for an Epic tier that’s expected. Been daily driving this in Diamond for stretches of season 12 and 13 when I get tired of Infernal’s fire particles.

Worth 1350 if you main Nasus. If you’re splitting time between multiple top laners and only want one Nasus skin, Infernal probably edges it out for the complete package. But if you already own Infernal and want variety, Battlecast is the second skin to grab. The Obsidian chroma specifically elevates it. That ranked game where my jungler dove top at level 3 and I got the double kill with stacked Q, the mechanical impact VFX made the highlight clip look twice as clean. Lock it in, stack your Q, become the machine. Fair price for the package.
