Nightbringer and Dawnbringer Skins

Nightbringer and Dawnbringer is one of those skinlines that hit me different the first time I saw it load in. The whole order-versus-chaos thing sounds generic on paper, but Riot nailed the execution here. Dark cosmic fire on one side, radiant divine light on the other. Been playing against these skins since 2017 and they still look clean on the Rift. 28 skins deep now across 23 champions, and the line keeps growing. Not sure if it's just me but the Nightbringer variants tend to look better than the Dawn side in most cases. Something about that dark red-purple palette just reads harder in teamfights.

What Makes Nightbringer and Dawnbringer Stand Out
The visual identity here is strong. Nightbringer skins lean into a corrupted celestial look with blacks, deep reds, and burning orange particles. Think fallen angels but with actual teeth. Dawnbringer goes the opposite direction with whites, golds, and soft blues that feel almost holy. The VFX across both sides share this cosmic energy aesthetic where abilities look like theyre tearing through reality itself.
What ties the whole Nightbringer and Dawnbringer line together is the splash art consistency. Every single splash shares that same dramatic lighting style where the champion stands between two forces. The backgrounds always have this cracked dimensional rift going on. Consistent without being boring. Hard to pull off across 28 skins but they managed it.
Kinda feels like Riot took notes from their own Cosmic and Dark Star lines when building this one out. The difference is Nightbringer and Dawnbringer actually commits to the duality concept. You get paired skins for the same champion sometimes. Soraka has both versions. That dual identity thing gives the line more narrative weight than something like Arclight or Eclipse which only play one side.
(Random aside: the Nightbringer recall animations are some of the most dramatic in the game. That kneeling-then-erupting thing hits every time.)
Color separation matters in ranked. When your Yasuo throws out a tornado in Nightbringer, the dark VFX read completely different from base. Could be wrong here but I think the Dawnbringer particles are actually slightly easier to track in lane, which might give a tiny clarity advantage. Not enough to matter in Diamond but I notice it. The particle contrast against Summoner's Rift green is cleaner on the Dawn side for sure.
Best Nightbringer and Dawnbringer Skins
Dawnbringer Riven is still the benchmark. Legendary tier at 1820 RP, released back in 2017 as one of the originals. New VO, completely reworked animations, the Q combo feels different with those light trails. Been spamming this in Diamond on Riven since season 8 and honestly the auto-cancel animations look smoother with the Dawnbringer particles. Might just be placebo but I swear the Q3 knockup reads better. Top pick for Riven mains, no question.
Nightbringer Yasuo dropped alongside Riven and together they basically launched the whole skinline. Another Legendary. The wind wall VFX in the dark fire aesthetic is something else. Every Yasuo one-trick I've played with or against has this in their rotation. The tornado Q looks menacing in teamfights and the ult animation where he slashes through that dark energy portal? Clean. Real talk though, if you're not a Yasuo main you probably wont appreciate how different the E dash feels with these particles.
Dawnbringer Yone is the newest Legendary in the set and it goes hard. The E spirit form in that golden divine look creates this wild visual where your body and soul are literally light and dark. Took this into ranked for maybe 30 games last month and the R engage looks incredible. The whole screen lights up. Best Yone skin if you ask me, and thats saying something because Spirit Blossom Yone exists.
Soraka getting both Dawnbringer AND Nightbringer Legendaries was a bold move. Two Legendary skins for a support champion. The Nightbringer version turns her into this corrupted healer which is thematically wild. Her W heal leaves dark marks instead of light. The Dawnbringer version is closer to her base fantasy but elevated to cosmic levels. Been maining Soraka with Dawnbringer this season in support and the ult visual where golden light covers the map never gets old. If you play Soraka at all, one of these two is mandatory.
Nightbringer Kayn deserves a mention too. Epic tier at 1350 RP but Kayn's form system gives it extra value. The Rhaast form in Nightbringer looks genuinely terrifying during ganking. Shadow Assassin form keeps the dark aesthetic but adds that sleek energy. Good value for 1350.
Champion Roster Breakdown
28 skins across 23 champions is a solid roster. Not gonna lie, some of these fits are better than others. Yasuo and Riven as the original pair makes perfect sense. Chaos windman meets order blade lady. The thematic contrast writes itself.
Lee Sin got a Nightbringer skin plus two Prestige versions which feels like overkill for one champion in a single line. Three Lee Sin entries in Nightbringer and Dawnbringer. Bit much. But the base Nightbringer Lee Sin looks good, the kick VFX with that dark energy trail is satisfying. Locked this in for a few weeks last season around November I think.
Some of the newer additions feel less natural. Nightbringer Yuumi is conceptually funny but a cosmic chaos cat doesnt hit the same dramatic notes as Nightbringer Hecarim charging through your backline. Dawnbringer Vex is an interesting contrast though. Taking one of the gloomiest champions and giving her a divine light skin. Props to Riot for that one.
Vayne, Aphelios, and Kalista fill out the ADC slots. Morgana, Karma, and Janna cover the enchanter side. Vladimir, Renekton, Tryndamere, and Nasus bring the bruiser energy. The line covers enough roles that you could theoretically run a full Nightbringer comp in ranked. Done it twice in flex queue. Lost both times but looked amazing doing it.
Who should be next? Feels like Thresh would be a perfect Nightbringer candidate. Or Dawnbringer Senna. Maybe just my experience but the line needs another marksman with the full Legendary treatment.
Tier and Price Breakdown
The spread here is interesting. 18 Epics at 1350 RP each, 5 Legendaries at 1820 RP, and 5 Mythic tier skins including the Prestige editions and Genesis Nightbringer Yasuo. No Standard tier skins at all. Everything starts at 1350 minimum which means Riot treats this line as premium.
The Legendaries carry the line hard. Five of them across Soraka (two), Riven, Yasuo, and Yone. Those five skins are the reason people know Nightbringer and Dawnbringer exists. The Epics fill the roster out but the 1820 RP skins do the heavy lifting in terms of quality and recognition.
Price range of 1350 to 1820 RP means you're spending real money on any of these. No budget options. Fair warning, if you want both Soraka Legendaries thats 3640 RP for one champion. Worth it if you're a Soraka one-trick climbing in support. Questionable for anyone else. The Epics at 1350 are standard pricing for what you get. New models, new VFX, no new VO. Nightbringer Aphelios at 1350 feels like a steal compared to some of the weaker Epic skins in other lines.
(Sidebar for support mains specifically: the Dawnbringer and Nightbringer enchanter skins are some of the cleanest support cosmetics in the game. Janna, Karma, Morgana, Soraka. Your whole champion pool covered in one skinline.)
Frequently Asked Questions
How many Nightbringer and Dawnbringer skins are there?
28 skins total right now. That includes 18 Epics, 5 Legendaries, and 5 Mythic tier skins counting the Prestige editions. The line started in 2017 with just Riven and Yasuo and kept growing through 2024. Honestly one of the bigger skinlines in the game at this point. Covers 23 different champions which is a solid spread across roles.
What is the best Nightbringer and Dawnbringer skin?
Dawnbringer Riven if you play top lane. The Legendary treatment with new VO and reworked animations makes it the gold standard for the line. For support players, Dawnbringer Soraka is the pick. Been running it in ranked all season and the ult visual alone justifies 1820 RP. Nightbringer Yasuo is the iconic one though. Hard to argue against it.
Which champions have Nightbringer and Dawnbringer skins?
23 champions total. The big names are Yasuo, Riven, Yone, Soraka, and Lee Sin. You also get Kayn, Vayne, Aphelios, Morgana, Vladimir, Hecarim, and more. Good role coverage across the board. Support, ADC, jungle, top, mid all represented. Could be wrong but I think every lane has at least 4 options in this line.
Does Nightbringer and Dawnbringer have Legendary skins?
Five Legendaries at 1820 RP each. Dawnbringer Riven, Nightbringer Yasuo, Dawnbringer Yone, Dawnbringer Soraka, and Nightbringer Soraka. All five have new voice lines, unique animations, and completely reworked VFX. The Soraka dual Legendary thing is rare in League. These five basically define the skinline's identity on the Rift.
When did the Nightbringer and Dawnbringer skinline release?
First dropped in 2017 with Nightbringer Yasuo and Dawnbringer Riven as the launch pair. The line kept getting new waves through 2024. Thats a seven year run which makes it one of the longer-lived skinlines Riot has maintained. Most of the roster filled out between 2021 and 2022 if I remember right.
Are Nightbringer and Dawnbringer skins worth buying?
The Legendaries are absolutely worth it if you main those champions. Played maybe 200 games with Dawnbringer Riven and zero regrets. The Epics at 1350 RP are solid but not mindblowing. Standard Epic quality with good VFX. Worth it for mains, skippable if you only play the champion occasionally. No budget skins in this line so every purchase is 1350 minimum.
Do Nightbringer and Dawnbringer skins have chromas?
Most of the Epic tier skins got chromas. The Legendaries typically dont get standard chromas but Lee Sin and Kayn both got Prestige editions which function as premium color variants. If you want variety within the line, the Epic skins give you more customization options. Some of the chroma sets are genuinely good, especially on Nightbringer Aphelios.
Will Riot make more Nightbringer and Dawnbringer skins?
Probably. The line got new additions as recently as 2024 so its not dead. 28 skins is big but Riot has kept expanding Star Guardian past 30 so theres precedent. Kinda feels like Thresh, Senna, or maybe Syndra would fit the theme well. No official announcements but the duality concept has enough creative space for more waves.
