Zombie Nunu & Willump

First time I saw this skin load in was a ranked game around 2 AM, season 5 or 6 I think. My support pinged it like three times in champ select. Willump looking like he crawled out of a grave behind Baron pit, Nunu riding on top with that dead-eyed stare. Creepy stuff. Been running Nunu & Willump on and off for years and Zombie is one of those skins that just sticks with you. Not because its flashy. Because its gross in the best way possible.

What the skin actually changes

So Willump gets the full undead treatment here. Exposed ribs, chunks of flesh missing, that sickly green-purple color palette. Nunu himself looks like a zombie kid from a Halloween cartoon, pale skin and torn clothes. The whole vibe is straight horror comedy. Might be overthinking it but I think Riot nailed the balance between scary and goofy, which is hard to do with a kid-and-monster duo.

VFX got a full rework for an Epic. The Q consume has this sickly green chomp effect that reads way cleaner than base in teamfights. W snowball becomes a rolling mass of zombie parts and green energy. Genuinely disgusting. Love it. E has green ice shards that feel sharper visually, and the R channel pulses with that undead glow. Playing this in the jungle, the clear just feels different. Not faster obviously, but the visual feedback on camps hits harder.

New voice lines too which is wild for 1350 RP. Nunu & Willump get zombie groans and garbled speech mixed into their normal VO. The recall animation has Willump rising from the ground like a horror movie scene while Nunu does a little zombie dance. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last October and the recall alone got me hooked. (Random aside: my duo partner refused to play with me because the sounds creeped him out on Discord.)

Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack animations also feel slightly different. The way Willump swipes has more weight to it. Placebo? Maybe. But after spamming this in Diamond during the Halloween event I wasnt switching back anytime soon.

The Zombies VS Slayers line and release details

Zombie Nunu & Willump dropped November 5, 2015. Right before preseason 6 chaos. Christian Fell handled the artwork, and the splash captures that B-movie zombie aesthetic perfectly. Willump bursting through a wall, Nunu on top looking half-dead, green mist everywhere.

The Zombies VS Slayers skinline is one of Riot’s seasonal Halloween pushes. Zombie Brand was already a fan favorite and this one fits right alongside it. The line leans into campy horror, not serious grimdark, which works for Nunu & Willump’s personality. Real talk though, I think Zombie Nunu gets overlooked because Zombie Brand steals the spotlight in that set.

No chromas on this one. Legacy vault skin so you cant just grab it whenever. Gotta wait for the vault rotation or get lucky with Hextech crafting. Last time I saw it available was around Halloween 2024 I think, Riot usually brings back the spooky skins in October. Worth keeping an eye out if you main the champ.

Is Zombie Nunu & Willump worth 1350 RP?

Straight talk: for an Epic at 1350 RP this skin overdelivers. New VFX, new voice lines, new recall, solid thematic execution. Most 1350 skins skip the VO changes entirely. The fact that Zombie Nunu & Willump got voice work puts it above a lot of its price bracket. Been maining Nunu & Willump with this equipped for two seasons of ranked and it hasnt gotten old.

The competition in the Nunu & Willump skin pool is decent. Space Groove is flashier. Nunu Beelump is cuter. But Zombie hits a niche that nothing else in the roster covers. If you play jungle Nunu & Willump and you like the horror comedy angle, this is the pick. Not gonna lie, the only downside is availability. Sitting in the Legacy pool means you might wait months for a chance to buy it. But if it shows up in your shop or drops from a chest, lock that in immediately.

Skip it if you want clean, modern VFX. This is 2015 quality and it shows in spots, particularly on the ability particles up close. But the charm carries it. 1350 RP well spent for mains, especially around Halloween when half your lobby is running spooky skins anyway. Top pick for Nunu & Willump one-tricks who want something with personality over polish.
