First time I saw PAX Sivir in a loading screen I had to look it up because I genuinely thought it was a custom skin someone modded in. This was back in like season 3 or 4, before I even understood what PAX meant. Turns out it was from the Penny Arcade Expo in 2011, handed out as a code card to attendees. Wild concept for a skin drop.
What PAX Sivir actually looks like in game
Kinda feels like Riot was still figuring out what skins could be back in 2011. PAX Sivir gives Sivir a blue and white Tron-style outfit with matching boomerang blade. Thats about it. No new VFX on Q, no changed W bounce particles, no recall animation. Voice lines stay base. Standard tier skin through and through, just a model and texture swap over the default.
The crossblade itself looks clean though. Bright blue energy lines running through it, stands out against Summoner’s Rift pretty well. Been running this in ARAM a few times last month and the auto attack animations read fine. Nothing fancy but the silhouette is distinct enough that you notice it in lane.
Real talk though, the appeal here isnt the visuals. It’s the rarity. You lock in PAX Sivir and people in your lobby know. Had a game last Tuesday where my support typed “wait is that real” in chat before minions even spawned. That reaction is worth more than any VFX upgrade honestly.
The PAX line and how this skin got here
PAX Sivir released August 25, 2011. Part of the PAX skinline alongside PAX Jax, PAX Twisted Fate, and later Neo PAX Sivir. The PAX skins were Riot’s convention exclusives, given out as physical code cards at the expo. Season 1 era stuff.
No splash artist credited in the data, which tracks for that era. Riot wasn’t really documenting art credits back then. The splash itself has that early League look, flat lighting, simple pose. (Random aside: the splash gives me strong 2010 DeviantArt energy and I mean that affectionately.)
Zero chromas available. Special pricing, meaning you cant just buy it. Legacy vault skin, so your only real path is Hextech crafting if you’re lucky enough to roll it. Might be overthinking it but I think the loot pool odds on PAX skins are slightly lower than normal Legacy stuff. Could be wrong here but in maybe 400 chests opened across three seasons I’ve never seen one drop.
Should you care about PAX Sivir?
Straight talk: if you main Sivir and you somehow have this skin, you equip it. Not because the skin is mechanically impressive. It’s not. The Q poke looks the same, your W bounces look the same, you’re teamfighting with base particles. But the flex factor is real.
If you’re an ADC player climbing through Diamond and you want a Sivir skin that actually changes ability VFX, look at Odyssey or Pizza Delivery. Those give you way more for your RP. PAX Sivir is a collector piece. A trophy. Played maybe 30 games with it total and every single time someone comments on it in lobby or postgame.
For Sivir one-tricks who care about rarity over polish, this is the skin. S-tier flex, C-tier actual content. I respect it for what it is, a piece of League history from back when the game was still figuring itself out. Not gonna lie, if Riot ever brought these back through any means besides loot I think the community would riot. The exclusivity is the whole point.
