Omega Squad Fizz

First time I saw Omega Squad Fizz load in, my duo partner pinged question mark on me because I sat in fountain for like five seconds just watching the idle animation. Not gonna lie, this skin caught me off guard. Fizz in full military gear with a helmet and tactical vest holding what looks like a weaponized fish. The concept sounds ridiculous on paper but Riot somehow made it work. Been running this in Diamond ranked since around patch 7.15 and the skin just feels right in a way I cant fully explain.

How Omega Squad changes Fizz’s kit

The biggest visual shift is the trident. Gone. Replaced with this serrated combat knife that Fizz stabs forward on his W. Clean animation. The Q dash has this military-green trail behind it, almost like a smoke effect, and it reads well against most Rift terrain. Honestly the W active feels crunchier with this skin, though I know thats probably placebo.

E is where things get interesting. Playful/Trickster puts Fizz on a military drone instead of the trident pole. The hover state looks distinct enough that enemies can still read the hitbox, which matters a lot in Diamond where people actually sidestep. The splash down has green particles, keeps the military theme consistent.

R launches what I think is a tactical shark torpedo? Hard to tell in the heat of a teamfight but the indicator on the ground has this military targeting reticle feel. Landed a max-range ult on their ADC last Thursday around midnight and the kill felt extra satisfying with this skin equipped. The shark that emerges keeps the Omega Squad aesthetic with armor plating.

New recall animation too. Fizz pulls out a walkie-talkie and calls in some kind of extraction. Short and clean. No new voice lines though, voice stays default. The base VO works fine here since Fizz’s personality carries regardless of the skin theme.

The Omega Squad line and where Fizz fits

Released July 26, 2017. Mid-season 7. Alex ‘alexplank’ Flores nailed the splash, the composition with Fizz emerging from water in full tactical gear hits hard. The Omega Squad skinline is one of Riot’s more underrated thematic lines. Started with Teemo back in the day, then expanded to Fizz, Veigar, Tristana, and Twitch in that 2017 batch.

Kinda feels like the yordle military fantasy that nobody asked for but everyone secretly wanted. Fizz fits the theme naturally because of his aquatic background. Makes sense for a fish assassin to be the squad’s infiltration specialist. The skin bio even plays into that.

3 chromas available. Pearl gives it this clean arctic ops vibe, white and light blue that reads almost like winter camo. Obsidian goes full dark ops, probably the one I’d recommend for ranked because the darker model is slightly harder to track in river fights. Tanzanite pulls purple into the palette which looks cool but feels less cohesive with the military theme. Could be wrong here but I think Obsidian is the pick if you’re only grabbing one.

Is Omega Squad Fizz worth 1350 RP?

This is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP. Shop has it permanently. For what you get, new VFX on every ability, new recall, the full model overhaul, thats standard Epic pricing and Omega Squad Fizz earns it. (Random aside: I’ve used the splash as my Discord avatar for like two years and nobody has ever recognized it as Fizz.)

Real verdict: if you’re a Fizz main climbing through ranked and you want something that feels distinct without being distracting, this is a strong pick. Not the flashiest Fizz skin, thats probably Little Devil or Fuzz Fizz, but Omega Squad has this grounded quality that I keep coming back to. Played maybe 200 games with this across season 8 and 9 specifically and it never got old.

The one downside. If you’re used to the brighter particle skins like Super Galaxy Fizz, the green military VFX might feel muted at first. Took me about a week of spamming it in solo queue to appreciate the subtlety. The poke pattern in lane with Q trades feels visually cleaner, and the E escape reads better against jungle terrain when you’re dodging a gank.

Skip this if you already own Little Devil and only play Fizz occasionally. But for one-tricks and Fizz mains who want variety in their rotation, 1350 RP well spent. Been my go-to Fizz skin this season whenever I get mid in comp and need to lock in something comfortable for the backline dive.
