Masquerade Evelynn

First time I saw Masquerade Evelynn was back in like season 3 or 4, somebody on the enemy team locked it in and I had to look it up after the game. Sat in the vault for years. The skin caught my eye because Evelynn’s base model at the time was rough, and this one had something going for it. A different energy. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s a charm to these old 520 RP skins that newer releases cant replicate.

What Masquerade Evelynn actually changes

Real talk though, this is a Standard tier skin at 520 RP, so temper expectations. You get a new model and texture. Thats about it. No new VFX on Q or E, no special recall animation, voice stays default. The costume swap is the whole package here.

Evelynn trades her usual look for a masquerade outfit with a decorative mask and a more theatrical silhouette. The color palette leans into deep purples and golds. In-game the mask reads surprisingly well even at the zoomed-out camera angle, which is something a lot of old skins struggle with. Her silhouette in stealth pre-6 stays clean enough that you wont confuse her for another champion.

Played maybe 15 games with this skin last month just for the novelty factor. The auto attack animations feel identical to base, which they are. No new particles on her W charm reveal or her R ult. Honestly for a skin from 2010 thats expected. You’re buying a costume, not a VFX overhaul. (Random aside: I keep this skin in my rotation purely for the flex factor because nobody owns it anymore.)

One thing I noticed around 1 AM in a Diamond ranked game last Tuesday – the gold trim on the outfit catches the river lighting in a specific way that base Evelynn doesnt. Small detail. Probably unintentional. Still cool.

The Legacy vault and release history

Masquerade Evelynn dropped May 17, 2010. Season one territory. Andrew Theophilopoulos did the splash, and for a splash from that era it holds up okay. Not incredible by modern standards but it captures the masquerade vibe.

The Legacy skinline is where this sits, which means you’re not finding Masquerade Evelynn in the regular shop. Sits in the vault. You either need to catch a Legacy sale event or roll it from Hextech crafting. Been maining Evelynn on and off since her rework and I think I got this one from a reroll during season 9 or 10, dont remember exactly.

No chromas exist for this skin. Zero. Given the price point and age that tracks. Riot wasnt doing chromas back in 2010 and they havent gone back to add them for a 520 RP Legacy skin. Fair enough.

Should you hunt for Masquerade Evelynn?

Straight talk: Masquerade Evelynn is a collector piece. If you’re an Evelynn one-trick looking to complete the set, it’s worth grabbing when Legacy vault opens or if you get lucky with Hextech crafting. 520 RP is cheap. The skin does exactly what a Standard tier skin should do – gives you a different look without pretending to be something bigger.

Could be wrong here but I think this is one of the better old Evelynn skins purely because the masquerade theme fits her character. She’s an assassin who operates in deception. A mask makes sense. Compare it to Shadow Evelynn or Tango Evelynn from the same era and Masquerade edges them out on thematic coherence. Not by a lot. But enough.

Skip it if you already own K/DA All Out or Coven Evelynn, those are in a completely different league with full VFX and new VO. But if you want something rare that most Evelynn players in your ranked games have never seen, Masquerade delivers on that front. Seen maybe two of these in the wild all season across hundreds of games. The rarity alone makes it worth the pickup for mains who care about standing out on the Rift.
