First time I saw Dragonslayer Diana load in on the enemy team, I thought it was a Legendary for a solid five seconds. The splash alone does that much heavy lifting. Xiao Guang Sun and West Studio went hard on the splash, and it shows in every detail from the draconic armor plating down to the molten crescent blade. Locked this in for about 40 ranked games the month it dropped and honestly its one of those skins that makes you want to play Diana even when she’s not meta.

VFX and what actually changes in game

For an Epic at 1350 RP, Riot packed a lot into this one. New VFX across the board. Q sends out a curved arc of dragon fire instead of the standard moonlight trail, leaves this orange-red residue on the ground that reads cleanly against Summoner’s Rift. Been maining Diana with this since season 10 and the Q visibility is actually better than base in most lighting conditions.

W shield orbs look like miniature dragon eggs circling you. Solid visual. E pull feels weightier with the fire particles, though obviously thats just cosmetic. The R is where it really hits. Moonfall with dragon energy erupting from the ground, scales and flame bursting outward. In a teamfight when you dive the backline and proc your passive on three people, the screen just lights up.

New recall animation too. Diana plants her blade and summons a dragon spirit. Clean work. Not gonna lie, I’ve canceled auto attacks just watching the recall like an idiot more than once. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is expected at this price point. The base Diana voice still fits the dragonslayer fantasy well enough that it doesnt feel like a miss.

The Dragon World line and where this skin fits

Dragonslayer Diana released January 30, 2020. Right in the middle of season 10. The Dragon World skinline is one of Riot’s longer running themes and Diana fits naturally into it. She’s already got that aggressive dive playstyle, slap some dragon armor on her and it just works. Might be overthinking it but I think the reason this skin works better than some other Dragonslayer entries is because Diana’s kit already feels predatory. The crescent blade reimagined as a dragon fang? Perfect match.

6 chromas total. Obsidian is the standout for me, goes full dark dragon energy and the contrast against the fire VFX is cleaner than the base version. Sapphire turns the whole palette ice-blue which creates this weird frost dragon vibe that honestly slaps harder than it should. Pearl exists for the people who want a lighter look but I never run it personally.

(Random sidebar: my duo partner is a Diana one-trick and he owns every chroma but exclusively uses Obsidian. Been like three seasons straight now. Says everything else “looks wrong” which, fair.)

Should you buy Dragonslayer Diana?

Real verdict: this is a strong Epic skin. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX overhaul carries it, the model redesign is sharp, and the recall is a nice bonus. If you’re comparing against Blood Moon Diana or Dark Waters Diana, Dragonslayer sits comfortably in the top three Diana skins depending on personal taste.

Where it falls short is the lack of new voice processing. Dark Cosmic Diana and the Legendary tier skins obviously blow it out of the water there. But for the price? Hard to complain. Shop has it any time you want to grab it, no vault rotation or loot exclusive nonsense.

Not sure if it’s just me but this skin specifically makes Diana feel smoother to combo with. Pre-6 laning with the Q poke feels more satisfying when dragon fire is arcing across the wave. Could be placebo. Probably is. But I hit Diamond promos last Tuesday around 1 AM running this skin so I’m not changing anything now.

Skip it if you already own Dark Cosmic or Sentinel Diana and only want one skin in rotation. Worth 1350 RP if you main Diana or even just play her as a secondary pick for mid and jungle. The Dragonslayer line earned its reputation and this entry is one of the better ones in the set. S-tier Diana cosmetic for the price bracket, no question.
