Bewitching Tristana

First time I saw Bewitching Tristana load in was during a ranked game around Halloween 2016, and I remember thinking Riot finally gave Tristana a skin that actually matched the chaos she brings to lane. The witch hat, the broom cannon, the whole package. Been running this as my default Tristana skin in Diamond for years now and honestly its one of those skins that just feels right every time you lock in.

What Bewitching Tristana actually changes

So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, and for that price you get new VFX across her kit plus a custom recall animation. Voice lines stay base, no VO refresh here. But the visual changes carry this skin hard.

Her Q steroid gets this purple-orange glow on Boomer (the cannon turned broom, basically). The auto attacks throw out these little candy projectiles that feel snappier than base, could be wrong here but the animation seems tighter. Her W Rocket Jump leaves behind a burst of bats and orange sparkles on landing. Solid. The E Explosive Charge plants a little pumpkin bomb on the target, and watching it tick down and explode into candy and bat particles in a teamfight is genuinely satisfying.

Her R Buster Shot fires a massive pumpkin that knocks enemies back. Used this to peel a diving Rengar off me last Wednesday in a late-game fight near baron pit and the visual of a giant pumpkin slamming into a cat never gets old. The recall has Tristana riding her broom around in circles before crash landing. Classic witch energy.

(Random aside: the broom cannon design is lowkey one of the best weapon redesigns in the entire Bewitching line across all champions.)

The Bewitching line and release context

Bewitching Tristana dropped October 19, 2016. Right before Worlds that year if I remember right, season 6. Esben Lash Rasmussen nailed the splash art. The composition with Tristana hovering on her broom against a full moon, candy scattered everywhere, it reads like a proper Halloween card but with enough detail to zoom in on.

The Bewitching skinline is one of Riot’s seasonal staples at this point. Bewitching has grown to include Miss Fortune, Janna, Nidalee, Morgana, and a bunch more over the years. Tristana was one of the earlier entries though, and I think she still holds up as one of the better executions in the set. Not gonna lie, some of the newer Bewitching skins feel overdesigned by comparison. Tristana keeps it clean.

No chromas available for this one. Kinda surprising given how many Bewitching skins got chroma packs later, but Riot never circled back to Tristana here. Legacy vault skin, so you cant just grab it any time. Gotta wait for the Halloween event shop rotation or get lucky with Hextech crafting. Seen maybe two or three of these in my games outside of October, which honestly makes it feel more special when you do run it.

Should you pick up Bewitching Tristana?

Real verdict: 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX are clean without being distracting, the thematic is tight, and the recall animation has personality. Not every Epic skin earns its price tag but this one does.

Main competition for Tristana mains is Dragon Trainer, which is a Legendary with way more bells and whistles. But Dragon Trainer released a year earlier and some people find Riggle annoying after 200 games. Bewitching is the low-maintenance alternative. Lock it in, enjoy the pumpkin bombs, dont overthink it.

If you’re an ADC player who grinds Tristana in ranked, this sits comfortably in the top three Tristana skins. Maybe just my experience but the auto attack particles feel slightly more readable than base in hectic bot lane trades, which matters when you’re trying to cs under tower while their Nautilus is hooking everything that moves. Fair warning, the Legacy vault status means you might be waiting until next October to actually buy it. Worth the wait for Tristana mains though. S-tier Tristana cosmetic that doesnt try too hard. Sometimes thats exactly what you want.
