Battle Bat Xayah

Locked in Battle Bat Xayah the day it dropped in July 2024 and honestly wasnt sure what to expect. The Anima Squad line had been hit or miss for me, but something about the bat aesthetic on Xayah just clicked. Dark wings, sharp silhouette, mecha-creature hybrid energy. First game I played with it was around 1 AM on a Tuesday, duo queue with my support main friend, and the feathers looked so clean cutting through the Rift that I forgot to cs for a solid 10 seconds.

What Battle Bat Xayah actually brings

This is a 1350 RP Epic skin so you get the standard package: new model, new VFX, new recall animation. Voice lines stay base. The feather particles on Q got a purple-dark energy treatment that reads well against most map textures. W activation has this subtle bat-wing flare that I think makes it easier to track your attack speed window in teamfights. Not sure if it’s just me but the E recall on feathers feels visually snappier here than on base Xayah.

R is where Battle Bat Xayah shines hardest. The untargetability dive gets this swooping bat animation with dark trails. Played maybe 40 games as ADC with this skin last season and the ult never got old. (Random aside: I showed my friend the recall animation and she thought Xayah was turning into an actual vampire bat, which, fair.) The recall itself leans into the creature transformation angle heavy. Xayah does this whole bat morph sequence that fits the Anima Squad theme perfectly.

Been running this in Diamond ranked and the auto attack animations feel smooth. Could be placebo but the feather placement from passive feels more readable with the darker color palette. In lane specifically, poking with Q through the wave and then pulling feathers back with E has this satisfying dark pulse effect. Simple change – huge impact on how the combo reads visually.

The Anima Squad connection and release details

Battle Bat Xayah dropped July 17, 2024. Part of the Anima Squad skinline, which Riot has been building out steadily. Bo ‘chenbowow’ Chen handled the artwork and they captured the vibe perfectly. The splash has Xayah mid-dive with bat wings fully extended, very dynamic pose.

Anima Squad as a line sits in this military-meets-animal-mecha space. Xayah got the bat treatment which honestly suits her better than most of the animal assignments in the set. The edgy rebel ADC who throws feathers becoming a bat creature? Kinda feels like Riot actually thought about this one instead of random assignment.

9 chromas total. Obsidian goes full dark mode and its probably the cleanest chroma in the set if you want that stealth aesthetic. Nightwire hits different with the orange and blue contrast, gives it a cyberpunk edge that the base skin doesnt have. Rose Quartz softens everything up if the dark theme isnt your thing. Real talk though, base Battle Bat already looks strong enough that chromas are optional here.

Should you buy Battle Bat Xayah?

Straight talk: 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. No new VO which is expected at this price point. The VFX carry the skin hard, especially on R and E. If you’re a Xayah main climbing in bot lane, this is a solid addition to the rotation. Not the flashiest Xayah skin ever made but the bat theme gives it personality that some of her other options lack.

Been maining Xayah with this for a few months now and keep coming back to it over Star Guardian and Elderwood. The darker palette just works better for me in late-game teamfights where visual clarity matters. That ranked game last week where my Rakan engaged on their backline and I ulted over the wall to follow up, the bat dive animation made the whole play look cinematic. Skip it if you already own Brave Phoenix, but for everyone else spamming Xayah in solo queue this season, worth the lock-in. Sits in the shop, grab it whenever.
