Trick-or-Treat Skins

Trick-or-Treat is Riot's Halloween lineup and honestly its one of those skinlines that just feels right every October. Been playing League since season 2 and every year around late September I start rotating these skins back into my ranked games. The aesthetic is pure campy horror. Think carved pumpkins, vampire capes, haunted forests, that kind of vibe. Not trying to be scary, just vibing with the season. Some of the older skins in this line are rough around the edges but the Epics they dropped later genuinely slap. 22 skins deep now across a decade of releases and the roster keeps growing.

What Sets Trick-or-Treat Apart on the Rift

Not gonna lie, the thing that makes Trick-or-Treat work is that it doesnt take itself seriously. Blood Moon goes full dark fantasy. Fright Night leans into genuine horror. Trick-or-Treat? It's the fun haunted house at the county fair. Pumpkins everywhere. Candy corn particles on some of the newer skins. Bats in the recall animations. The whole line screams October energy without going overboard on the edgy factor.

Visual signature across the line leans heavy on orange, purple, and green. Classic Halloween palette. The splashes from the 2010-2013 era look dated now, not gonna sugarcoat it. Pumpkinhead Fiddlesticks has that old Riot splash quality where the champion looks like they were painted in MS Paint at 3 AM. But the later entries like Witch's Brew Blitzcrank and Count Kledula? Night and day difference. Riot clearly put more resources into the Halloween event skins as the years went on.

(Random sidebar: I used to think Trick-or-Treat was just a lazy cash grab until I actually ran Haunted Zyra in ranked for like 30 games straight. The plants with the spooky particle effects genuinely changed how I felt about the champion.)

What ties the line together is the tone more than any shared VFX framework. These aren't chromatically linked like Star Guardian or Project. Each skin interprets "Halloween" differently. Nosferatu Vladimir goes classic vampire. Grim Reaper Karthus does exactly what you'd expect. FrankenTibbers Annie makes Tibbers into Frankenstein's monster. Could be wrong here but I think that variety is what keeps the line fresh after 22 entries. Similar lines like Bewitching overlap thematically but Trick-or-Treat got there first and stayed more grounded in the costume party vibe.

Best Trick-or-Treat Skins Worth Locking In

Okay real talk. 22 skins is a lot to parse through so let me break down the ones actually worth your RP.

Pumpkin Prince Amumu. Best skin in the line full stop. The 1350 RP Epic tier treatment gave Amumu this whole pumpkin-headed sad prince aesthetic and it works way better than it should. His W tears are orange now, Q bandage has this vine trail, and the ult? Pumpkin explosion around the teamfight. Played this into a Katarina last Tuesday around 11 PM and the ult VFX actually made my duo think I missed it because the animation looked different. Nope. Just pumpkin particles.

Count Kassadin is slept on. Vampire Kassadin with the cape and fangs. His R blink has this bat swarm effect that reads so clean in lane. Been running this in Diamond when I get Kass and the recall animation where he pulls out a goblet? Chef's kiss. 1350 RP well spent for mains.

Witch's Brew Blitzcrank turns the robot into a cauldron-themed monstrosity. The hook is a ladle or something, I think. Kinda hard to tell in the chaos of bot lane but the green particle trail on Q stands out. Good skin for Blitz one-tricks who want something different from the mecha aesthetic. Spammed this in ranked for maybe two weeks straight last October.

Haunted Zyra deserves a mention. The plant models swap to these twisted haunted tree things. E root looks like creeping vines from a horror movie. Not sure if it's just me but Zyra's kit translates to Halloween better than almost any other champion in the game. Her whole identity is plants and nature corruption so adding a spooky filter on top just works.

Count Kledula rounds out the top five. Kled as a vampire riding a vampire Skaarl. The jousting charge on R with bat effects trailing behind you is genuinely hilarious in a teamfight. Might be overthinking it but I feel like Kled's chaotic personality fits the Halloween comedy tone perfectly. One of those skins where the champion choice elevates the concept.

The Trick-or-Treat Champion Roster

22 champions deep and counting. Thats a solid roster for what started as a few novelty skins back in 2010.

Annie was one of the first entries with FrankenTibbers and honestly it holds up for a Standard tier skin. The Tibbers model change carries that skin hard. Twisted Fate got the Underworld treatment which pulls him into more of a death dealer fantasy. Fits his gambler persona. Vladimir as Nosferatu is so obvious it hurts but Riot executed it well enough. Been in the game since 2010 or 2011 I think and still looks decent for its age.

Some of the roster feels forced though. Vindicator Vayne barely reads as Halloween to me. Nightmare Tryndamere is just Tryndamere but angry and darker which is basically default Tryndamere anyway. Spooky Gangplank is literally just a ghost filter over his model from the early days. These older 520 RP skins were clearly made when Riot's skin team was smaller and the bar was lower.

Who should get the next Trick-or-Treat skin? Fiddlesticks already has Pumpkinhead but post-rework Fiddle with a proper Epic tier Halloween skin would be insane. (Personal take: Thresh or Viego would fit perfectly. Thresh is already spooky, just lean into the costume party angle. Viego as a vampire king? Free money for Riot.) Ekko got Trick or Treat Ekko in 2020 which was the most recent addition and it proved the line can work on modern champions.

Missing from the line: any jungler besides Hecarim and Fiddlesticks who could really use the treatment. Warwick as a werewolf. Come on Riot. That's sitting right there.

Tier Breakdown and Pricing Across the Line

Here's where Trick-or-Treat gets interesting. 16 out of 22 skins are Standard tier. That means the bulk of this line is 520 to 975 RP skins from the early years of League. Model changes, maybe a texture swap, no new particles or recall animations. The six Epic skins at 1350 RP carry the entire line's reputation.

Fair warning, if you're buying any of the 520 RP Standards expecting modern quality you will be disappointed. Spooky Gangplank and Butcher Urgot are relics. They exist for collectors and people who got them from Hextech chests. The price range across the full line goes from 520 to 1350 RP which means there's no Legendary in the Trick-or-Treat universe. No new voice lines on any of these skins. Base VO across the board.

The Epics do the heavy lifting. Period. Pumpkin Prince Amumu, Count Kassadin, Witch's Brew Blitzcrank, Haunted Zyra, Count Kledula, and Trick or Treat Ekko. Those six justify the skinline existing in 2026. Without them you'd have a pile of outdated texture swaps that nobody would care about outside of ARAM rerolls.

I think the lack of a Legendary actually hurts the line. Imagine a 1820 RP Trick-or-Treat skin with full new VO, Halloween-themed voice lines, the works. Riot leaves money on the table every year by not doing this. Season 10 was the last time they added to this line and that was 2020. Six years ago. Kinda feels like they moved all the Halloween energy over to Bewitching instead which is a shame because Trick-or-Treat had its own identity.

Price to quality ratio? The Epics are solid value at 1350. The Standards are only worth it if you find them in Your Shop at a discount or pull them from chests. Dont go spending 975 on Kitty Cat Katarina expecting it to compete with her modern skins. It won't.

Trick-or-Treat Skinline FAQ

How many Trick-or-Treat skins are there?

There's 22 Trick-or-Treat skins total as of right now. The line started back in 2010 with early entries like Nosferatu Vladimir and kept getting additions through 2020 when Trick or Treat Ekko dropped. Most of them are Standard tier 520-975 RP skins from League's early days but six are Epic 1350 RP with proper particle work and new models.

What is the best Trick-or-Treat skin?

Pumpkin Prince Amumu takes it for me. The pumpkin VFX on his ult in teamfights look clean, the model is solid, and the whole sad pumpkin prince concept just works. Count Kledula and Haunted Zyra are close behind. Really depends on which champions you main though. If you play Kassadin, Count Kassadin is arguably his best skin period.

Which champions have Trick-or-Treat skins?

22 champions are in the line. Big names include Annie, Vladimir, Blitzcrank, Katarina, Hecarim, Zyra, Kled, and Ekko among others. The roster spans every role from ADC with Vayne to support with Lulu to jungle with Fiddlesticks. Pretty wide spread for a seasonal skinline that only gets additions once a year at most.

Does Trick-or-Treat have Legendary skins?

Nope. No Legendaries in the Trick-or-Treat line. The highest tier is Epic at 1350 RP which means none of the skins come with new voice lines or special interactions. Honestly feels like a missed opportunity. A Legendary Halloween skin with full VO would sell like crazy but Riot hasnt gone there yet with this specific skinline.

When did the Trick-or-Treat skinline release?

First Trick-or-Treat skins dropped in 2010 during League's early days. Skins like Nosferatu Vladimir and Pumpkinhead Fiddlesticks were some of the originals. The line kept getting yearly additions for a decade straight with the most recent being Trick or Treat Ekko in 2020. Ten year run which is solid for any skinline.

Are Trick-or-Treat skins worth buying?

The six Epic skins? Absolutely worth 1350 RP if you main those champions. Pumpkin Prince Amumu and Haunted Zyra especially. The Standard tier skins from 2010-2015 are harder to recommend at full price. They're mostly texture swaps without new particles. Wait for Your Shop discounts or hope you roll them from Hextech chests if you want the older ones.

Do Trick-or-Treat skins have chromas?

Some of the newer Epic skins have chromas. Witch's Brew Blitzcrank and a few others got chroma packs when they released. The older Standard skins from 2010-2013 don't have chromas at all since Riot didn't start doing chromas until later. Check the individual skin pages for exact chroma counts because it varies across the line.

Will Riot make more Trick-or-Treat skins?

Hard to say. The last addition was 2020 and Riot has been pushing Bewitching as their main Halloween line since then. Could be wrong here but I think Trick-or-Treat might be on the back burner. That said Riot loves revisiting old skinlines when the community asks loud enough. If they bring it back, champions like Warwick or Thresh would be perfect fits.
