Renekton Skins

15 skins available

Renekton has been my go-to top laner since season 4 and I've probably cycled through every single one of his skins at least twice. Fifteen skins deep and the croc still gets love from Riot, which says something about how popular he stays in solo queue. Not gonna lie, some of these are genuinely great and a few are straight up forgettable. Been playing him across multiple ranked seasons and the skin you lock in actually matters for how the champion feels in lane. Here's my full breakdown of the Renekton skin catalog from someone whos spent way too many hours slicing people up top.

Renekton's Skin Collection Over the Years

Fifteen skins total spanning from 2011 all the way to 2023. Thats a solid twelve years of cosmetic support. The breakdown looks like nine Standard tier skins, four Epics, one Mythic, and one Legendary. For a champion that's been in the game since early season 1, the ratio feels about right. Not every champ gets a Legendary and Renekton earned his.

The early years were rough though. Galactic Renekton and Outback Renekton dropped around his release and they show their age hard. We're talking texture swaps with maybe a color shift on the blade. Bloodfury came in 2011 too and at least that one had some visual identity going for it. Red recolor but it committed to the theme.

Could be wrong here but I think the real turning point was Scorched Earth Renekton. That skin gave him actual new particles on his abilities for the first time. Fire effects on the Q heal, burning W stun, the whole package felt like Riot finally figured out what Renekton players wanted. Pool Party followed and that was pure comedy. A giant pool noodle for a weapon. Peak Riot humor.

The 2019-2023 stretch is where the catalog got serious. Hextech Renekton showed up as a Mythic crafting exclusive. Blackfrost gave him that cold menacing vibe. PROJECT turned him into a full cyber-croc with new VO. Then Dawnbringer and Worlds 2023 closed it out. Four Epics and a Legendary in roughly four years. Good era for Renekton mains.

(Random thought but its wild that Renekton went from pool noodle jokes to full cybernetic voice processing in the span of like five skins. Character development.)

Compared to champions like Lux or Ezreal who have 20+ skins, fifteen feels modest. But the quality curve from 2019 onward is steep. Early catalog is weak. Late catalog carries hard.

Best Skins for Renekton

PROJECT: Renekton sits at the top and I dont think it's particularly close. Full Legendary treatment at 1820 RP. New voice lines, completely reworked ability VFX, unique recall and death animations. The Q slice has this clean cybernetic arc that just reads better in teamfights. W stun lock gets a digital crunch sound effect that I swear makes it feel more impactful. Ult transformation turns him into this hulking mech-croc thing. Been spamming this in Diamond since it dropped and the visual clarity on his empowered abilities is genuinely better than base. Legendary price, earns it.

Blackfrost Renekton hits different if you want that menacing dark fantasy look. Epic tier at 1350 RP. The ice effects on his Q are clean and the W has this frozen shatter feel that pairs well with the Blackfrost skinline aesthetic. Not sure if it's just me but the auto attack animations feel slightly crisper on this one. Might be placebo. Played maybe 80 games with Blackfrost last season and kept coming back to it over PROJECT some weeks.

Hextech Renekton is the flex pick. Mythic tier so you cant just buy it outright. Need gemstones or Mythic Essence to craft it. The hextech crystal effects on his abilities look premium. Q leaves these shimmering blue-green trails. R transformation has crystalline growths spreading across his model. If you have the Essence sitting around, its worth the craft. Seen maybe 5 of these in my games all season. Rare factor alone makes it hit.

Dawnbringer Renekton rounds out the top tier Epics. 1350 RP. Golden celestial theme that honestly fits a giant angry crocodile better than you'd expect. The contrast between his aggressive kit and the angelic visuals creates something interesting. W stun gets these radiant burst particles. Solid skin. Not my personal number one but I get why people lock it in.

Worlds 2023 Renekton deserves a mention too. Esports skins are hit or miss and this one landed closer to hit. The championship color scheme works on Renekton's bulky model. Good particles on the abilities. 1350 RP standard Epic pricing.

Skinlines and Themes That Fit the Croc

Renekton shows up across a bunch of different skinlines and not all of them work equally well. Real talk though, the ones that lean into his aggressive bruiser identity tend to be the strongest fits.

Blackfrost is probably the most natural thematic pairing. Cold, menacing, powerful. The Blackfrost line takes champions and gives them this corrupted ice aesthetic that just clicks with Renekton's whole angry predator vibe. Anivia is the poster child for Blackfrost but Renekton wears it well too.

Pool Party is the complete opposite end of the spectrum and somehow it also works. Pool noodle weapon, swim trunks, water splash effects on his Q. Its the kind of skin you lock in when you're not taking ranked too seriously. Had a game last Tuesday where I dove their ADC under tower with Pool Party Renekton and the kill animation with the pool noodle was genuinely funny. Sometimes you need that energy.

PROJECT as a skinline gave Renekton maybe his best overall package. The cybernetic theme translates well to his kit because his abilities are all about raw physical impact. Slice, dice, stun, chomp. Adding tech overlays to those animations gives them extra visual weight. Kinda feels like the skin was designed specifically for Renekton rather than Renekton being shoehorned into it.

Galactic is forgettable. Prehistoric is okay but dated. The World Champions 2015 SKT T1 skin exists as a historical piece more than anything. Infernal through Scorched Earth was one of the early winners though. Fire and Renekton's rage-fueled kit? Natural fit. (Sidebar for top lane mains specifically: Scorched Earth is underrated in the cheap skin category and I'll fight anyone on that.)

Budget vs Premium Picks

The price range on Renekton skins goes from 520 RP all the way up to 1820 for the Legendary. Nine of his fifteen skins sit at Standard tier pricing. Four Epics at 1350. One Mythic you cant buy directly. One Legendary at full price.

If you're climbing ranked and dont want to drop serious RP, Scorched Earth Renekton punches way above its weight class. Standard pricing with actual particle changes on abilities. The fire effects on Q and W read clearly in lane and the R transformation looks aggressive. For the cost its hard to beat. Rune Wars is another budget option that holds up okay. Medieval dark fantasy skin that still reads as Renekton from a distance.

Premium side, PROJECT is the obvious answer. 1820 RP gets you everything: new VO, new animations, complete VFX overhaul. If you main Renekton and plan to play him for another few seasons, the Legendary is the move. Worth 1820 if you main the croc.

Middle ground at 1350 goes to Blackfrost or Dawnbringer depending on your aesthetic preference. Dark menacing ice vs bright celestial gold. Both deliver solid VFX updates, clean ability reads, and good recall animations. Might be overthinking it but I slightly prefer Blackfrost for ranked because the darker color scheme blends less with ability indicators in teamfights. Small edge. Could matter in a close engage where your W needs to connect on the right target.

Skip Galactic and Outback unless you're collecting for completion. Those two haven't aged well at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Renekton have?

Renekton has 15 skins total as of 2023. Nine Standard tier, four Epics, one Mythic, one Legendary. Decent catalog for a champion thats been around since 2011. Not the biggest roster but the quality in the back half is strong. Been through most of them personally and the post-2019 skins carry the whole collection.

What is the best Renekton skin?

PROJECT: Renekton. Full Legendary with new voice lines, completely reworked VFX, unique animations. The cyber-croc aesthetic works perfectly with his kit. 1820 RP but it earns every point. Grinded ranked with this skin for two whole splits and never got tired of it. Blackfrost is the runner-up if you prefer a darker theme.

What is the cheapest Renekton skin?

Several of his Standard skins sit at 520 RP. Galactic and Outback are the cheapest options. Honest take: they're basic texture swaps that havent aged well. If you want cheap but actually good, Scorched Earth at Standard pricing gives you real particle effects on abilities. Much better value pick for ranked games.

Does Renekton have a Legendary skin?

Yeah, PROJECT: Renekton is his one Legendary at 1820 RP. Full package deal. New voiceover, reworked ability VFX, unique recall and death animations, the whole thing. Feels like playing a different champion honestly. S-tier Legendary skin across all top laners, not just Renekton specifically. Absolutely worth it for mains.

What skinlines is Renekton in?

Renekton appears across Blackfrost, PROJECT, Dawnbringer, Pool Party, Prehistoric Hunters, Galactic, Infernal (Scorched Earth), and World Champions lines among others. Best thematic fits are PROJECT and Blackfrost in my experience. Pool Party is the fun pick. Wide range of themes from serious to silly which keeps the catalog interesting.

Does Renekton have chromas?

Some of his newer Epic skins come with chroma options. Blackfrost, Dawnbringer, and Worlds 2023 all have chroma sets available. The older Standard skins dont have any chromas. If chromas matter to you, stick with the 1350 RP Epics. More color variety and the base skins already look good before recolors.

When was Renekton's last skin released?

Dawnbringer Renekton dropped in 2023 as his most recent skin. Before that was Worlds 2023 Renekton. Two skins in the same year is solid output. The croc stays relevant in Riot's skin pipeline which tracks given how consistently he shows up in pro play and ranked. Good sign for future releases.

Is Renekton worth buying skins for?

If you play him regularly, absolutely. Renekton is one of those champions that's stayed viable across multiple metas. Strong early game, reliable in lane, useful in teamfights. The PROJECT Legendary alone justifies investing in his catalog. Even at budget pricing, Scorched Earth delivers. Not gonna lie though, skip the oldest skins unless youre a completionist.
