Gragas

Gragas Skins

14 skins available

Gragas is one of those champions where the skin catalog tells you Riot never quite figured out what to do with him. 14 skins spanning from 2010 to 2024 and not a single Legendary in the bunch. Think about that for a second. A champion who's been in the game since basically launch, who's had meta relevance in jungle, mid, top, and even support at various points, and the best he's ever gotten is Epic tier. Not gonna lie, it kinda stings if you're a Gragas main. But there's some genuine quality hiding in that pile of 520 and 1350 RP skins, and I've played enough of them in Diamond to have opinions.

How Gragas's Skin Collection Shaped Up Over the Years

The earliest Gragas skins are pure 2010 energy. Hillbilly Gragas dropped that year, and it's exactly what you'd expect from early Riot. Texture swap, maybe a hat, call it a day. Scuba Gragas is the same era. These skins cost 520-750 RP and they look it. No new particles, no new animations, voice lines stay default. Just a different outfit on a fat dude with a barrel.

Between 2010 and like 2015, Gragas picked up a bunch of Standard tier skins. Santa Gragas for the Snowdown Showdown line. Gragas, Esq. which is honestly hilarious because its just Gragas in a suit. Vandal Gragas from the Crime City adjacent Vandal line. Oktoberfest Gragas which became his most iconic skin for years. Could be wrong here but I think Oktoberfest was the first Gragas skin that actually felt like it had a clear creative direction beyond "put him in a costume."

Then the Epics started rolling in. Arctic Ops in 2016 or so. Warden. Space Groove in 2021. High Noon in 2024. Music Fan somewhere in there. Five Epics total, all at 1350 RP, and honestly the quality jump from Standard to Epic on Gragas is massive. New particles on Q, new barrel VFX on W, updated recall animations. Night and day difference.

So the breakdown is 9 Standard skins and 5 Epics. No Legendary, no Mythic, no Ultimate. Feels like Riot looks at Gragas's play rate every year, shrugs, and greenlights another Epic. Which is fine. The Epics are solid. But I keep waiting for a Legendary Gragas where he gets a full VO overhaul and it just never comes.

Fourteen skins across fourteen years. Consistent output. Nothing spectacular.

Best Gragas Skins Worth Locking In

Arctic Ops Gragas is my number one pick and I dont think it's particularly close. The military winter theme translates perfectly to his kit. His Q barrel becomes this frost grenade that detonates with ice shrapnel particles. W gives him this armored glow. The E body slam has cold vapor trails. And his R, the explosive cask, launches this massive cryo bomb that just looks clean on impact. Been running this in ranked since season 7 and the skin still holds up visually against newer releases. The splash is strong too.

Space Groove Gragas is the fun pick. Riot went full disco with the VFX. His barrel on Q pulses with groovy colors, the body slam leaves a trail of sparkles, and the recall animation has him dancing. It's ridiculous in the best way. Took this into a clash tournament last year and my whole team was vibing in champ select. The skin reads well in teamfights which matters more than people think. You can actually track your abilities in a chaotic dragon fight without losing them in the particle noise.

High Noon Gragas is the newest addition, dropped in 2024. Western saloon Gragas with a whiskey barrel. Thematic fit is perfect honestly. The VFX have that dusty amber glow across all abilities. Q rolls out a flaming barrel, R launches a dynamite keg. Kinda feels like Riot finally gave him a skinline that matches his personality. Drunk brawler in a Wild West setting. Makes sense.

Warden Gragas is the sleeper. Stone and metal aesthetic, heavy armor vibes. Not flashy but the particles are crisp and the model is detailed for 1350. Good skin for when you want to look serious in ranked without the disco energy of Space Groove.

Oktoberfest Gragas deserves a mention even though its Standard tier. It's THE Gragas skin culturally. Beer barrel, lederhosen, the whole package. No new particles but the model work carries it. Seen this in maybe 40% of Gragas games I've played against. Classic for a reason.

Skinlines and Where Gragas Fits

Gragas has been scattered across a ton of different skinlines without really becoming the face of any of them. Day Job gave us Gragas, Esq. Snowdown Showdown has Santa Gragas. Vandal line. Wonders of the World with Caskbreaker. Soccer Cup with Superfan. World Champions 2011 with Fnatic Gragas. It's a wide spread.

The problem is most of these are one-off appearances. Gragas shows up, gets a skin, leaves. He's not anchoring any line the way Lux anchors Elementalist or Yasuo anchors basically everything. Not sure if it's just me but I think that's why he doesn't have a Legendary. Riot doesn't see him as a skinline tentpole champion. He's the fun roster filler.

That said, some skinlines fit him better than others. High Noon feels natural. Saloon brawler energy. Space Groove works because Gragas already has this jovial party-animal personality in his base kit and the disco theme amplifies it. Arctic Ops is good because the military spec-ops angle gives him a serious edge that contrasts his usual goofiness.

Warden is interesting thematically. Stone guardian Gragas protecting ancient ruins. It's a stretch from his lore but the execution is solid enough that you dont question it in game. (Random aside: Warden skins in general are underrated across the entire roster, fight me on this.)

The weakest thematic fits are probably the older ones. Scuba Gragas is just Gragas underwater. Hillbilly Gragas is Gragas but more redneck, which isn't exactly a dramatic departure from baseline Gragas. These early skins didn't have strong skinline identity because Riot wasnt thinking in terms of skinlines yet back in 2010.

Budget Picks vs Premium Skins for Gragas

Good news for budget Gragas players. Since there's no Legendary, the most you'll ever spend is 1350 RP. That's the ceiling. Five Epics at 1350 each, and the remaining nine Standards range from 520 to 975 RP.

Best value pick is Oktoberfest at 975 RP. No new particles but the model is iconic and it's cheaper than every Epic. If you want actual VFX changes though, Arctic Ops at 1350 is the move. Best bang for your RP on Gragas, period.

Real talk though, the Standard skins below 750 RP are rough by modern standards. Hillbilly and Scuba look dated. They were fine in 2010 but standing next to a 2024 Epic they show their age hard. Santa Gragas at 975 gets a pass because holiday skins have charm that transcends visual fidelity. Fair warning, some of the older Standards are Legacy vault skins so you might not even be able to grab them outside of special events.

If you're climbing ranked and want one Gragas skin, buy Arctic Ops. If you want two, add Space Groove for when you're feeling less tryhard. That covers every mood. No need to spend more unless you're collecting.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Gragas have?

Gragas has 14 skins total as of 2024. Nine Standard tier, five Epic tier. No Legendary or higher. The collection spans from 2010's Hillbilly Gragas all the way to High Noon Gragas in 2024. Solid count for a champion his age, even if the tier ceiling is lower than you'd expect from someone who's been around this long.

What is the best Gragas skin?

Arctic Ops Gragas. Been my pick for years and I think most Gragas mains would agree. The military frost theme works perfectly with his kit, every ability got clean new particles, and the splash is one of his best. Space Groove is the runner-up if you want something more fun and colorful for normals.

What is the cheapest Gragas skin?

Scuba Gragas and Hillbilly Gragas at 520 RP each. Pure texture swaps from 2010 though. No new particles, no new animations. They look it. If you want the cheapest skin that actually feels different, Oktoberfest at 975 RP is the sweet spot. Worth the extra RP honestly.

Does Gragas have a Legendary skin?

Nope. Zero Legendaries. Highest tier Gragas has ever reached is Epic at 1350 RP, and he's got five of those. Kinda wild for a champion thats been in the game since 2010. Maybe one day Riot gives him the Legendary treatment but I'm not holding my breath. His play rate probably doesn't justify it.

What skinlines is Gragas in?

A bunch. Snowdown Showdown, Vandal, Day Job, Wonders of the World, Soccer Cup, World Champions 2011, Warden, Arctic Ops, Space Groove, and High Noon. He's spread across a lot of lines without being the flagship of any single one. Jack of all skinlines, master of none. Fits his character though.

Does Gragas have chromas?

Some of his Epic skins have chromas available. Space Groove and High Noon both came with chroma sets. The Standard tier skins don't have any though. If chromas matter to you, stick with the newer Epics. They give you color options on top of the particle upgrades which is nice for variety.

When was Gragas's last skin released?

High Noon Gragas in 2024. Western saloon theme with amber VFX across all abilities. Good skin. Before that he got Music Fan Gragas. Riot's been pretty consistent with giving him a new skin every year or two lately, which is more than some champions can say. Not bad for a champion outside the top popularity bracket.

Is Gragas worth buying skins for?

If you play him regularly, absolutely. His Epics are well made for the price. Arctic Ops alone justifies spending RP on this champion. The catch is there's no Legendary so you'll never get new voice lines or a dramatically different fantasy. But for 1350 RP the Epic skins deliver solid value. Grab one or two and you're set.
