Kibble-Head Kled

First time I saw this skin in champ select I thought someone was trolling. Kled riding a giant dog wearing a kibble bag on his head. Thats the pitch. And honestly? It works way better than it has any right to. Been running this in Diamond for a while now and every single game someone in all chat has something to say about it. The Cats Versus Dogs skinline doesnt miss when it comes to absurd concepts, and Kibble-Head Kled might be the funniest entry in the whole set.

What Kibble-Head Kled actually changes

So Skaarl is a big goofy dog now. Golden retriever energy. The whole model is a complete rework from default, Kled’s sitting on top in what looks like makeshift armor pieced together from dog toys and kibble packaging. His weapon is some kind of chew toy lance situation. Ridiculous.

The VFX got a full pass for an Epic tier skin. Q throws out what I think is a rope toy or leash that latches on, and the tether visual reads really clean in lane. Honestly the Q is easier to track than base Kled for me, might be the bright colors. W procs have these little paw print particles, subtle but you notice them after a few games. E charge has dog-themed dust clouds trailing behind Skaarl, and the second E recast feels snappy with the new particles.

Not gonna lie, the recall animation is the highlight. Kled feeds Skaarl from the kibble bag and Skaarl goes absolutely feral over it. Could be wrong here but I think Skaarl’s tail wags during the recall too. Small detail that sells the whole fantasy. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the skin doesn’t need it. Kled’s default voice already sounds unhinged enough to fit a guy riding a dog into battle.

(Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play bot lane when I lock this in because the Skaarl dismount sound makes him think I’m dying. Every. Single. Time.)

The Cats Versus Dogs line and release context

Kibble-Head Kled dropped April 6, 2023. Mid season 13. The Cats Versus Dogs skinline is one of Riot’s goofier themes and Kled fits it naturally because the champion already has a pet mechanic built in. Horace ‘Hozure’ Hsu nailed the splash, the composition with Kled charging forward on dog-Skaarl surrounded by chaos captures the energy perfectly.

8 chromas total. Obsidian is my go-to, turns Skaarl into this dark-furred mutt that reads like a Rottweiler on the Rift. Amethyst hits different too, the purple fur on Skaarl looks clean against the green of Summoner’s Rift. Pearl is interesting if you want the white dog aesthetic but I think it washes out in teamfights. Ruby exists for Ruby collectors I guess.

1350 RP. Standard Epic pricing. Shop has it, permanent availability. For a champion that only has four skins total, the competition isnt exactly fierce. Sir Kled is a meme, Count Kledula is decent for Halloween, Marauder Kled is forgettable. Kibble-Head is the clear winner by default and also just on merit.

Should you buy Kibble-Head Kled?

Real talk though. If you play Kled at all this is the skin. Full stop. Played maybe 40 games with it last month in Diamond and the VFX clarity is genuinely better than base. The Q tether especially, way easier to see in a messy teamfight around dragon pit. Last Tuesday I dove their Syndra under tier 2 turret and the dismount into remount with the dog particles going off was cinema.

Kled one-tricks have been waiting for a skin that actually feels premium and this is it. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get considering the model, VFX, and recall are all solid. Not sure if it’s just me but the auto attack animations feel smoother too, could be placebo from the new model proportions. The Cats Versus Dogs theme gives it personality that the edgier skins in his catalog dont have.

Skip it if you literally never play Kled. But if you’re a top lane player who pulls him out even occasionally for counterpicks or just to splitpush and cause chaos, Kibble-Head Kled is worth the price. Best Kled skin full stop. The dog carries it, Skaarl mains know what I mean.
