Pool Party Ziggs

First time I saw Pool Party Ziggs load in, I think season 3 or maybe late season 2, I genuinely laughed out loud. Ziggs already has that chaotic energy where every ability feels like you’re trolling the enemy team. Slap a pair of swim trunks on him and replace bombs with water balloons and pool toys? Perfect fit. Been running this skin on and off for years and it still gets reactions in chat.

Water balloons hit different on the Rift

The VFX overhaul is where this skin earns the 1350 RP price tag. Every single ability gets the pool party treatment. His Q lobs a water balloon instead of a bomb, and the bounce animation has this satisfying splashy effect on impact. Played maybe 150 games with this thing and the Q animation genuinely feels smoother to me, though could be wrong here but I swear the arc reads cleaner against darker map tiles.

W is a rubber duck. A rubber duck. You plant a rubber duck on the ground and it detonates with a water splash. Not gonna lie, the number of times I’ve zoned people off dragon with a rubber duck and they type “???” in all chat is too many to count. Last Saturday I trapped their Syndra in river with it and my jungler got a free kill. She didnt even see the duck sitting there.

E scatters pool toys across the ground. Little inflatable balls and floaties acting as mines. The visual clarity is actually decent for an older skin. You can tell where the minefield starts and ends, which matters when you’re trying to peel for your ADC in teamfights. His R, the big one, launches a massive beach ball that crashes down with a tidal wave effect. The impact zone reads well and the sound design has this heavy water crash that feels impactful even by today’s standards.

The recall animation has Ziggs cannonballing into a kiddie pool. Short and clean. No new voice lines though, base VO stays the same. Voice is unchanged from base, which is fine honestly because Ziggs already sounds unhinged enough without needing a themed voice pack.

The OG Pool Party skin and its splash

Pool Party Ziggs dropped September 4, 2012. One of the earliest Pool Party skins Riot ever made. The whole Pool Party line became massive later with additions like Lee Sin, Leona, Renekton, but Ziggs was there from the start. Kienan ‘Knockwurst’ Lafferty nailed the splash, it captures that summer chaos energy with Ziggs mid-cannonball and other champions chilling in the background.

(Random aside: this splash used to be my desktop wallpaper back in college, the colors are just that good.)

The Pool Party skinline is probably Riot’s most consistent thematic. Every champion in the line gets treated well, and Ziggs fits it naturally. The whole “explosive maniac but make it beach day” concept just works. Zero chromas on this one, which I think is a missed opportunity. A tropical sunset variant or a neon pool noodle recolor would have been solid. But this came out in 2012 so chromas werent really a thing yet.

Should you grab Pool Party Ziggs?

Real verdict: this is one of the best Ziggs skins if you value personality over flashiness. Master Arcanist is technically more polished. Battle Boss has the arcade gimmick. But Pool Party has charm that neither of those match. Kinda feels like this skin was made by someone who actually plays Ziggs and understood the vibe.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, a fun recall, strong splash art. Shop has it permanently so no vault anxiety. If you’re climbing with Ziggs mid or spamming him in ARAM, this is the skin. I’ve seen maybe 4 or 5 Pool Party Ziggs players in my Diamond games all season, which means you wont run into mirror skin matchups either. That matters to some people.

For Ziggs mains specifically, this is S-tier. The water balloon Q is iconic at this point. Been daily driving it again this patch after swapping off Hextech for a few months and I keep coming back. The VFX are clean, the theme is fun, and it makes laning phase feel like a vacation even when their jungler is ganking you pre-6 for the third time. Top pick for Ziggs mains, no question.
