Victorious Kog'Maw - Splash, Price & Chromas

Kinda feels like Riot threw ADC mains a bone with this one. Season 2024’s ranked reward landed on Kog’Maw of all champions, and honestly? Not mad about it. Been playing the little void puppy on and off since season 9 I think, and seeing him get the Victorious treatment felt overdue. The splash caught me off guard when they revealed it. Royal armor on a creature that literally melts everything with acid. Works way better than it should.

What the Victorious skin actually changes

Kog’Maw gets the full gold-and-blue royal treatment here. The model swap puts him in ornate plated armor with those signature Victorious wing motifs on his back. His Q fires out with cleaned-up blue-gold particles that read well against the Rift. W range indicator has this subtle shimmer to it now, which I noticed around 1 AM last Tuesday grinding my last few games of the split.

E leaves a trail that actually looks prestigious for once. Not gonna lie, the R artillery shells are the highlight for me. Each ult shot drops with a satisfying golden impact marker that makes poking from the backline feel crisp. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the recall animation is new. Kog’Maw sits on a little throne and does his weird mouth thing. Charming in a gross way.

The VFX work is solid for a ranked reward skin. Not Legendary tier obviously but you can tell Riot put more effort into recent Victorious skins compared to early ones like Victorious Jarvan. Simple change – huge impact on how the champion reads in teamfights.

The Victorious line and how Kog’Maw fits

Released May 17, 2024 as the Season 2024 ranked reward. Huyy Nguyen and West Studio handled the artwork, and they nailed the regal vibe without making Kog’Maw look ridiculous. The Victorious skinline has been running since season 1, and Kog’Maw joins champions like Graves, Lucian, Blitzcrank, and Aatrox in the collection. ADC pick makes sense given how dominant bot lane was that season.

9 chromas total, each tied to your ranked finish. The Diamond chroma hits different for obvious reasons (sidebar: yes I’m biased, been hardstuck Diamond for three seasons now). Challenger chroma has that deep blue that maybe 0.01% of players actually earned. Master chroma with the purple tones is clean too. Most people ended up with Gold or Platinum, and those look fine but nothing special compared to the higher tier variants.

This is a ranked reward so theres no RP price tag. You either earned it by hitting Gold+ in split 2 or you didnt. Sits in the vault now, loot eligible through Hextech crafting if you missed it. Could be wrong here but I think the chromas were also locked to your peak rank that split.

Should you care about Victorious Kog’Maw?

Real verdict: if you got it, you got it. Free skin. The VFX upgrades on Q and R make it genuinely usable in ranked, not just a flex. Been running this as my default Kog’Maw skin since it dropped and I keep coming back to it over Battlecast and Bee’Maw. (random aside: the loading screen border with the Victorious splash actually goes hard)

For Kog’Maw mains specifically, this competes with his pricier options surprisingly well. The golden artillery ult in late-game teamfights where you’re sitting behind your peel just spamming R from max range? Chef’s kiss. Three things stood out: ult VFX, recall animation, model quality. Skip the complaints about “wrong champion choice” you see on Reddit. Kog’Maw earned it. Top pick for Kog’Maw mains who were grinding ranked that season anyway.
