Striker Lucian

Not gonna lie, when I first saw Striker Lucian pop up during the 2014 World Cup event I thought it was a joke. Lucian in a soccer jersey with shorts and cleats, running around the Rift blasting people. Looked goofy. Played about 15 games with it that first week and something just clicked. The whole athletic vibe suits his kit way more than you’d expect from a novelty skin.

What actually changes on Striker Lucian

This is a 750 RP Standard tier skin so temper your expectations. No new VFX on Q, W, E, or R. Voice lines stay base. No fancy recall animation. What you get is a full model swap: Lucian trades the relic pistols aesthetic for a sporty look with a soccer uniform, shin guards, and what I think are custom dual pistols styled to match the kit.

The color scheme is clean. White and blue jersey, dark shorts. Looks sharp in lane. Been running this in Diamond ranked and honestly the silhouette reads differently enough that I’ve had a couple ADCs hesitate on trades because the model throws them off for half a second. Could be coping but I swear it helps.

No new particles on his Piercing Light or Ardent Blaze. Relentless Pursuit same animation. The Culling still fires the default projectiles. For a skin at this price point thats expected. You’re paying for the outfit, not the effects. Simple change – huge impact on how the champion feels to play though. Something about the athletic build makes his passive auto weaving feel smoother. Placebo? Probably. Do I care? No.

The Soccer Cup line and release context

Striker Lucian dropped June 18, 2014, right alongside a batch of Soccer Cup skins timed for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The Soccer Cup skinline includes a handful of champions and most of them lean into the same sporty theme. Lucian fits it naturally because his kit is all about mobility and quick shots, kind of like a forward making runs.

No splash artist credited in the data which is a shame because the splash is actually solid. Lucian mid-stride with the pistols, stadium lights behind him. (Random aside: I used this splash as my Discord avatar for like three months in season 10 and nobody questioned it.) Legacy vault skin so you cant just walk into the shop and grab it. Sits in the vault, comes out during special events or you need to roll it from chests. Hextech crafting is your best bet these days.

Zero chromas available. For a Soccer Cup skin released in 2014 that tracks. Riot wasnt doing chromas back then and never went back to add any.

Should you pick up Striker Lucian?

Real verdict: if you main Lucian and like collecting his skins, Striker Lucian is a fun one to have. It’s not competing with Project Lucian or High Noon Lucian for your main rotation. Those skins have new VFX, voice filters, the whole package. But at 750 RP when it shows up in your loot, there’s no reason to reroll it.

Played maybe 40 games with it last season around late September. Kinda feels like a comfort pick. You lock in Lucian, throw on the soccer jersey, and just vibe in bot lane. The skin works best if you appreciate the novelty factor. My duo partner who one-tricks Lucian keeps this in rotation specifically for ARAM and normals.

For the price and what it delivers, 750 RP is fair. Skip it if you only want one Lucian skin and go for something with actual VFX changes. But if you’re building the collection or you want something lighthearted for when you’re not tryharding in comp, Striker Lucian earns its spot. Been in the Legacy pool for years now so grab it if it drops from a chest. Worth keeping over rerolling.
