Resistance Singed

First time I saw Resistance Singed pop up in the shop back in November 2020, I thought Riot finally gave Singed mains something worth running. Been playing Singed on and off since season 5, and most of his skins feel like they were made as an afterthought. This one actually looks like someone on the design team cared. The whole post-apocalyptic rebel fighter vibe fits Singed better than you’d expect for a champion who literally runs at people with poison.

What Resistance Singed actually brings to the table

So the Battlecast universe frames this as Singed joining the human resistance against Viktor’s machine army. Cool concept. In practice, what you get is a full visual overhaul with new VFX and a new recall animation. No new voice lines though – voice stays default, which is a miss for 1350 RP but not a dealbreaker.

The model itself looks clean. Singed is wearing this makeshift combat gear with resistance insignia, gas mask modified for the theme, and his shield has this improvised military look. Not gonna lie, the silhouette reads well in teamfights which matters more than people think for a champion who’s constantly running through the enemy backline.

Q poison trail got the biggest glow-up. The particles have this greenish chemical warfare look thats distinct from base Singed poison. You actually notice the difference when you’re proxying between towers or running through the jungle. W adhesive zone has updated ground effects too. Could be wrong here but I think the E fling animation feels slightly different, though that might just be placebo from the new model.

Recall animation is where they put some personality. Singed working on resistance tech, fiddling with his equipment. Short and sweet. Played maybe 80 games with this skin last season in Diamond and the recall never got old, which is saying something for a champion who backs as often as Singed does between proxy waves.

The Battlecast connection and release context

Resistance Singed dropped November 12, 2020. Late into season 10. Zhong Yang and Kudos Productions handled the artwork, and they captured the gritty resistance fighter aesthetic perfectly.

The Battlecast skinline is one of Riot’s older thematic universes. Singed fits naturally into the resistance side of the narrative since he’s literally a chemist fighting against machines. Makes more lore sense than half the crossover skins Riot pumps out these days. Real talk though, the Resistance sub-line within Battlecast doesn’t get enough love compared to the machine skins.

8 chromas available for this one. Tanzanite is my go-to pick – the deep purple chemical trail against the dark outfit just works. Obsidian goes full tactical stealth mode which looks hard in loading screen. Pearl is interesting if you want something brighter but I think it clashes with the resistance theme a bit. (Random aside: the Tanzanite chroma on Resistance Singed has been my phone lock screen for like two years now and nobody has ever recognized what it is.)

Sits in the shop permanently at 1350 RP. Standard Epic tier pricing. Nothing locked behind events or vaults.

How it stacks up against other Singed skins

Singed has a decent roster now. Beekeeper Singed is the meme pick that everyone knows. Augmented Singed was the old reliable. Mad Scientist is classic but dated. Where does Resistance land?

Honestly I think it’s top two for Singed. Maybe three if you really love Beekeeper for the comedy factor. The VFX quality on Resistance is just a level above anything pre-2020 in his catalog. Spammed this in Diamond during preseason 11, around December 2020 I think, and the poison trail visibility actually helped me track my own positioning better in chaotic fights around dragon pit.

Might be overthinking it but the skin feels like it has slightly better visual clarity on the W zone too. Enemy players seem to walk into it more often, though that could just be Diamond players being Diamond players at 1 AM on a Tuesday.

Should you buy it?

Verdict time. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across abilities, solid model, good recall, and the Battlecast Resistance theme gives Singed an identity beyond “crazy chemist runs fast.” The missing voice lines sting a little at this price point but Singed isnt exactly a champion known for iconic voice acting anyway.

Worth 1350 if you main Singed. If you only play him occasionally in norms, Beekeeper or Augmented might be better value at lower price points. But for anyone grinding ranked with the mad chemist, Resistance is the skin. Top pick for Singed mains who want something that looks modern without being a joke skin. The chromas give you options for seasons when you want a fresh look without buying another skin entirely.

Skip it only if you’re holding out for a Legendary Singed skin someday. Been waiting for that myself for about four seasons now and I dont think Riot has it on the roadmap.
