First time I saw Prestige PROJECT Sylas load into a game I thought someone modded their client. The white and gold colorway on a champion who is basically a magic thief running around in cyberpunk armor? Looked wrong in the best way. Been maining Sylas on and off since his release, and this is one of those skins that made me go back to him for a full month straight in Diamond.

How Prestige PROJECT Sylas actually looks in game

So the base PROJECT Sylas already goes hard with the futuristic tech aesthetic. The Prestige version flips the color palette to white, cream, and gold accents. Not gonna lie, it reads way cleaner on the Rift than you’d expect from a “golden chroma” type prestige. The chains specifically look incredible. When you hit Q the particles have this warm golden glow that pops against every map background I’ve tested it on.

W is where the visual upgrade matters most for Sylas players. You know how important it is to track your W heal timing in fights? The Prestige VFX make the heal window more visible. Could be wrong here but I think the golden burst on the empowered W heal is slightly larger than base PROJECT. Either way it looks clean.

E chain throws have this satisfying gold trail. The second E dash leaves particles that linger just a touch longer than default. Played maybe 80 games with this skin last season and the E2 connect animation never got old. Ult steal keeps the golden theme regardless of which ability you grab, which is a nice consistency touch. Some stolen ults look absolutely wild with the gold overlay on top of enemy champion VFX.

Recall animation is new. Sylas does this whole dramatic chain-break sequence with golden energy flowing through his restraints. Short but impactful. Way better than the base PROJECT recall in my opinion. (Random aside: I’ve watched the recall animation like 30 times and I still notice new particle details.)

Voice lines stay base though. No VO refresh on this one. Standard for Prestige skins at this price point so cant really complain about it.

The PROJECT line and where this fits

PROJECT is one of Riot’s longest running skinlines at this point. Sylas dropped into the PROJECT universe May 27, 2021, middle of season 11. The Prestige version came alongside the base 1350 RP PROJECT Sylas as a limited Mythic tier reward.

David Villegas and West Studio handled the splash art. They nailed the composition honestly. Sylas breaking free from golden chains with that determined expression, the whole piece screams “I’m stealing your ult and your dignity.” The splash reads well as a thumbnail too which matters for collection display.

The PROJECT skinline fits Sylas better than most champions in the roster. Think about it. Sylas is a mage who steals power from others. PROJECT is about augmented humans with stolen or repurposed tech. The thematic overlap writes itself. Not every PROJECT skin earns its place in the line but this one does.

No chromas on this skin. Prestige skins don’t get chromas which is fine because the whole point is the exclusive white-gold colorway. Adding chromas would defeat the purpose.

Getting your hands on Prestige PROJECT Sylas

This is a Mythic tier skin with Special pricing. Originally you needed to grind the event pass back in 2021 to earn enough tokens. These days it rotates through the Mythic shop. Available now if you have the Mythic Essence for it. Real talk though, the Mythic Essence cost means you’re looking at either saving up over multiple events or getting lucky with drops.

I remember grinding that event pass around late May 2021. Was playing like 6 ranked games a day that week trying to hit the token threshold before the deadline. My duo partner thought I lost it. Worth it though.

For Sylas mains specifically this is a flex pick in champ select. Not many people have it compared to the base PROJECT skin. In my Diamond games I see maybe one other Prestige PROJECT Sylas every two months. Last Tuesday I ran into one on the enemy team and we both emoted at each other pre-6 in mid lane. Respect.

The honest take

Prestige PROJECT Sylas sits in a weird spot. The VFX upgrade over base PROJECT is noticeable but not dramatic. You’re paying Mythic Essence for the exclusivity and the white-gold color scheme more than anything else. Kinda feels like the skin lives or dies on whether you care about having something rare.

If you’re a Sylas one-trick who wants the cleanest looking option, this competes with Freljord and Ashen Slayer. Ashen Slayer has better thematic depth. Freljord is the budget pick that still looks great. Prestige PROJECT wins on rarity and the clean modern aesthetic.

Best Sylas skin? Probably not. Best looking Sylas skin in a teamfight where you need your abilities to read clearly? Might be. The golden particles cut through visual clutter better than darker skins, and when you’re diving the backline as Sylas in a 5v5 that clarity matters more than people think. Been spamming this in Diamond during season 13 and 14 and the VFX readability alone keeps it in my rotation.

Top pick for Sylas mains who already own the staples and want something that turns heads in lobby. Skip if you’re casual on Sylas or if you’d rather spend Mythic Essence on a different champion’s prestige. Simple decision – do you main Sylas and care about rare cosmetics? Then grab it. If not, save your essence.
