Pool Party Mundo

First time I saw Pool Party Mundo load into my game I straight up laughed out loud. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s something about Dr. Mundo in swim trunks chucking a pool noodle that just breaks your brain in the best way. Played against one in a Diamond ranked game last summer and I could not take the lane seriously. Had to cop it myself after that.

What Pool Party Mundo actually brings

So this is a Standard tier skin at 975 RP, which means you’re not getting a full model overhaul on the level of a Legendary. But honestly Riot put in more work than they needed to here. Dr. Mundo trades his usual corporate attire for board shorts, sandals, and a life preserver around his waist. The cleavers? Gone. Replaced with a pool noodle he flings at people. Watching that thing arc through the air in lane is genuinely funny even after hundreds of games.

The VFX got a refresh too. His Q toss has that bright pool noodle trajectory, and the overall color palette shifts to tropical blues and bright summer tones. Big difference from his base grimy purple vibe. Voice lines stay base, no new VO here, but thats fine for the price point. The recall animation is the real gem though. Dr. Mundo does a cannonball into a kiddie pool. Clean.

Playing this skin in teamfights, the noodle cleavers are actually easier to track visually than base. Could be wrong here but I think the hitbox reads cleaner against the Rift’s green tones. Been running this in my ranked games when I need a mental reset after a loss streak, and something about the goofy aesthetic helps me not tilt when the enemy jungler is ganking me for the fourth time pre-6.

Pool Party line and release context

Pool Party Mundo dropped June 25, 2015. Mid-season 5 I think. Sixmorevodka Studio handled the artwork, and they captured this perfect balance between ridiculous and charming. The splash has Mundo poolside looking like he owns the place, which honestly fits the champion’s whole delusional confidence thing perfectly.

The Pool Party skinline is one of Riot’s biggest. Leona, Lee Sin, Renekton, Graves, Fiora – the roster is stacked. Dr. Mundo fits right in though. Maybe better than most. The whole Pool Party concept works best on champions who look absurd in summer gear, and Mundo is peak absurd. (Random aside: I use the Pool Party Mundo splash as my Discord avatar during summer and people always ask about it.)

Should you buy Pool Party Mundo?

Real verdict: if you play Dr. Mundo at all, this is a must-own. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The pool noodle Q alone carries the skin. Been maining Mundo with this equipped since around season 9 I think or 10 dont remember, and I keep coming back to it over his other options.

The competition in Mundo’s skin catalog is decent. Corporate Mundo is the Legendary pick, El Macho has its fans, Frozen Prince looks clean. But Pool Party Mundo hits a specific vibe none of them touch. It’s the fun skin. The one you lock in when you want to splitpush top lane at 2 AM on a Tuesday and not care about LP.

Skip it if you only play Dr. Mundo as a counterpick once a month. But for anyone who grinds him regularly in solo queue, this is the skin. Simple change – huge impact on how the champion feels to play. Worth 975 RP if you main Mundo, no question.
