Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Mordekaiser

Not gonna lie, when Riot dropped the Pentakill III: The Lost Chapter album tie-in skins back in September 2021, Mordekaiser was the one I locked in first. The whole concept just fits. Mordekaiser is already this hulking metal overlord in his base form, so turning him into an actual metal frontman feels less like a skin concept and more like correcting a design oversight. Been running this in Diamond for a couple seasons now and it still holds up.

What Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Mordekaiser actually changes

For 1350 RP you get new VFX across the board and a fresh recall animation. No new voice lines, voice stays default. Thats fine honestly because Fred Tatasciore’s base VO already sounds like hes fronting a band anyway.

The Q slam gets this deep purple energy wave with musical note particles scattered through it. Hard to notice in a hectic teamfight but in lane phase its clean. W shield has a darker, more concentrated aura compared to base. Feels heavier somehow. The E pull is where things get interesting visually: the claw effect has these spectral guitar string trails that read really well against the Rift background, especially around dragon pit.

His ult though. When you R someone into the Death Realm, the whole arena shifts to this concert stage purple-black aesthetic. Trapped their Jinx in it last week during a late-game teamfight near baron and my support actually pinged the skin in chat. Big visual moment. The recall has Mordekaiser shredding a guitar solo. Simple concept, solid execution.

(Random aside: the recall animation is my favorite part and I sometimes recall just to flex it after a kill in lane.)

The Pentakill III line and who made it

Pentakill III: The Lost Chapter dropped September 9, 2021. Late into season 11 if I remember right. David Villegas and West Studio handled the artwork, they captured the concert energy perfectly in the splash. Mordekaiser stands center frame with this massive spectral guitar, purple fire everywhere. Could be wrong here but I think this is one of the better splashes in the entire Pentakill lineup.

The Pentakill III: The Lost Chapter skinline was Riot’s third pass at the metal band theme. Karthus, Kayle, Yorick, Sona, Olaf, Viego all got skins in the same batch. Mordekaiser fits the Pentakill fantasy harder than most of them. The whole iron revenant aesthetic just translates naturally into rock god territory.

8 chromas total. Obsidian is my go-to because it darkens the armor to near-black with these faint red accents, reads like a black metal variant. Tanzanite pushes deeper into purple which honestly competes with the base color scheme. Citrine is interesting if you want something different, gives it a gold-and-orange vibe thats pretty unique for Mordekaiser. The rest are fine but those three stand out to me after maybe 15 games testing each one last season.

Worth the 1350 RP?

Permanent shop skin, grab it any time. For an Epic tier Mordekaiser skin this is strong. The competition in his skin pool is real though. Dark Star Mordekaiser exists. PROJECT Mordekaiser exists. High Noon is right there too. Kinda feels like Pentakill III sits in the upper middle of his catalog.

If you main Mordekaiser and you care about the Pentakill theme at all, 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, a recall that actually has personality, and 8 chromas for variety. The ult arena change alone carries value for me. Been daily driving this over PROJECT for the past two months specifically because the Death Realm visual hits different.

Real talk though, if you dont care about the music theme and just want the cleanest Mordekaiser skin for climbing ranked, Dark Star or High Noon probably edge it out. But for Mordekaiser mains who want something with character? Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Mordekaiser earns its spot in the rotation. Top pick for anyone who wants their iron revenant looking like he just walked off stage at 2 AM after a sold-out show on the Rift.
