Nurse Akali

Not gonna lie, Nurse Akali caught me off guard the first time I saw it in champ select. Someone on my team locked in Akali with this skin around 1 AM last Saturday and I had to look it up mid-loading screen. The whole medical theme on an assassin is such a weird concept that it somehow works. Been around since January 4, 2011, making this one of the oldest Akali skins in the game. Still holds up better than you’d expect for something that old.

What Nurse Akali actually changes

For a 975 RP Standard tier skin, there’s decent effort here. Akali swaps her usual ninja gear for a nurse outfit complete with a medical cap and syringe-themed kama. The color palette shifts to white and pink, which reads clean against the Rift. VFX got updated at some point, so her abilities have that medical green tint to them now. Q poke in lane looks noticeably different from base.

Voice lines stay base. No new recall animation either. Thats expected at this price point honestly. The model work does the heavy lifting and the syringe weapons sell the fantasy. Playing this skin, the auto attack animations feel crisp even if nothing mechanically changed. Could be wrong here but I think the updated particles on her E make it slightly easier to track the recast position in teamfights.

(Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I use this skin because he says it’s “cursed” after I went 0/7 with it in a Diamond promo game back in season 10 or 11.)

The Rift Hospital line and release history

Nurse Akali belongs to the Rift Hospital skinline. Dropped January 4, 2011. Ancient by League standards. Jennifer Wuestling nailed the splash, the composition captures Akali mid-strike with that nurse aesthetic without making it look forced.

8 chromas total if you want variety. Obsidian turns the whole thing dark and moody, which I think works way better than base for ranked games. Rose Quartz leans into the pink hard, almost too much for my taste. Rainbow is the flashy pick if you want to tilt the enemy laner pre-6. Rest of them are fine but those three stand out.

Shop has it. Permanent availability, so no rush. 975 RP is the ask, which sits in that sweet spot where it’s not cheap but wasnt expensive either. For what you’re getting model-wise plus the chromas you can grab separately, fair deal.

Should you pick up Nurse Akali?

Real verdict: this depends on your Akali skin collection. If you already own K/DA or PROJECT, Nurse Akali is more of a novelty pick. Something you rotate in when you’re spamming ranked and want a mental reset between games. Played maybe 30 games with it across two patches and the novelty factor is real. Enemy midlaners dont expect the nurse to one-shot them out of shroud.

For Akali mains specifically, 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The chromas give it longevity. Not the best Akali skin full stop, but it’s a solid addition if you main her and want something lighthearted for those late-game carries where you’re diving the backline. Been running this in Diamond when I need a change of pace from the edgier skins and honestly its fine for what it is. Skip it if you only play Akali occasionally, but for one-tricks this earns a spot in the rotation.
