First time I saw this skin in a loading screen I genuinely thought it was a custom mod someone snuck into the game. A robotic Willump with Nunu strapped in like he’s piloting a mech suit from some low-budget sci-fi movie. Been running this skin on and off since season 4 and the charm hasnt worn off. Legendary tier, 1820 RP, and for a skin that dropped back on May 5, 2011, it still holds up better than most Epic skins from 2020.

What the robot yeti actually changes

So the big deal here is Willump becomes a full-on robot. Not subtle. Steel plating, glowing eyes, mechanical joints. Nunu sits on top looking like a kid who found a giant toy in a junkyard. The whole fantasy shifts from “boy and his yeti” to “boy and his scrapyard mech.” Solid concept.

The new voice lines carry this skin hard. Lucas Jaye handles Nunu’s VO, and then there’s the text-to-speech software for Willump’s robotic responses. That combination is genuinely funny. Willump talks in this flat, monotone computer voice while Nunu is being a hyperactive kid. The contrast works. Not gonna lie, I’ve caught myself laughing at the recall animation in the middle of ranked more than once. Last Tuesday I was doing dragon setup and missed the ping because I was watching the recall play out. My jungler flamed me. Worth it.

Q consume gets the robotic treatment with mechanical chomping VFX. The snowball on W looks more like a rolling boulder of scrap metal and energy. Honestly the W is where it shines hardest in teamfights because that thing barreling down mid lane with the metallic VFX just hits different. E snowball toss has electric particle effects instead of ice. R absolute zero gets the full robot treatment with a mechanical whirring buildup instead of the blizzard wind. Sound design matters on Nunu ult because you’re standing still channeling it, and the robotic hum gives your team this “something bad is about to happen” energy.

New recall animation too. The whole package for a Legendary. Pre-rework this skin was already good, but after the Nunu rework it got updated and the new model just works. Played maybe 200 games with this skin across multiple seasons. The auto attack animations feel clean, which matters when you’re trying to cs in lane or clear jungle camps efficiently.

Heavy Metal line and the splash

Part of the Heavy Metal skinline. Not one of Riot’s biggest thematic pushes, but the robot/mech angle fits Nunu & Willump perfectly. X TRAIN handled the artwork, and they nailed the splash. The composition puts Willump front and center with all that metallic detail while Nunu peeks out from the top looking way too excited about piloting a death machine.

Released May 5, 2011. That makes this skin over 15 years old at this point. Season 1 era. Kinda feels like Riot was experimenting with what a Legendary could be back then, and this was one of their better early attempts. The skin got a massive glow-up with the Nunu & Willump rework in patch 8.17, September 2018 I think. Before that it was showing its age hard, but post-rework it became genuinely competitive with modern Legendaries.

(Random aside: the old pre-rework Nunu Bot voice lines were legendary in their own right. “The robot is fed” in that text-to-speech voice became a meme in my friend group for years. Some of that energy carried over to the rework version thankfully.)

No chromas available for this one. Straight base skin only. Shop has it permanently, 1820 RP, standard Legendary pricing. Could be wrong here but I think this might be one of the oldest Legendary skins still in the regular shop rotation.

How it plays in actual games

Nunu & Willump mains know the jungle clear feel matters. The robot sound effects on W snowball rolling through camps adds this satisfying crunch. Ganking bot lane with the big metal snowball rolling out of river is peak comedy. Had a game around 2 AM last weekend where I rolled through tri-brush and the enemy ADC just stood still. Think they were too confused by the giant robot yeti to react. Free kill.

The ult channel sound is the real competitive advantage though. In teamfights around dragon or baron pit, the mechanical whirring is slightly less recognizable than the default blizzard sound. Not saying its pay-to-win, but in the chaos of a 5v5 with abilities flying everywhere, that different audio signature might buy you an extra half second of channel. Been maining Nunu & Willump with this skin in Diamond and I swear the full channel rate is higher. Could be coping but the data feels real to me.

Biggest weakness: the model is bulkier visually than base. Willump’s robot form reads as larger on screen, which might make you feel like you’re easier to hit with skillshots. Pure placebo probably. The hitbox is identical. But perception matters when you’re trying to dodge a Morgana Q in the jungle.

Should you buy it?

Real verdict: Nunu & Willump Bot at 1820 RP earns the Legendary price tag. New VO with the text-to-speech gimmick, new VFX on every ability, new recall, new model. The humor factor alone sets it apart from every other Nunu & Willump skin. Space Groove is flashier, sure. Cosmic Paladins has the newer tech. But neither of them has Willump saying “CONSUME” in a flat robot voice while eating the enemy jungler at dragon.

If you’re a Nunu & Willump one-trick this is non-negotiable. Top pick for Nunu & Willump mains, period. If you play them casually in the jungle rotation, its still worth grabbing during a Legendary sale. The personality of this skin is unmatched. Fair warning, you might get tilted teammates who spam ping you because the robot voice lines are… a lot. Spammed this in Diamond for three weeks straight and got asked to mute my emotes twice. Small price to pay.

Skip it only if you genuinely hate joke skins. This leans hard into comedy. If you want serious dark fantasy Nunu & Willump, look at Zombie or Fright Night instead. But for pure fun per RP spent, Nunu & Willump Bot delivers. Available any time in the shop. 1820 RP well spent for mains.
