Locked in Jade Dragon Wukong for the first time back in season 2 and honestly it still holds up. Not gonna lie, when I saw the jade-green armor and the dragon motif on the staff I knew this was going to be my default Wukong skin for a long time. Played maybe 40 games with it that first week. The whole vibe just clicks for a champion who’s already built around that mythic warrior identity.

What Jade Dragon Wukong actually brings

For a 975 RP Standard skin, Jade Dragon Wukong does more than you’d expect. The model swap is clean. Wukong gets full jade-colored armor plating with gold trim, dragon engravings across the shoulders, and a redesigned staff that looks like it belongs in a museum. The headpiece alone sells the fantasy.

The VFX got touched up too. His Q hits with a green particle trail that reads well in teamfights, and the E dash leaves this faint jade shimmer. Subtle stuff but it makes the skin feel like it has weight behind it. Not every 975 skin gets VFX love so thats a win. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the base Wukong voice works fine here. Spike Spencer’s delivery already fits the warrior monk energy.

One thing I noticed grinding ranked with this skin last season – the W clone looks slightly different with the jade coloring, which actually makes it marginally harder for enemies to react to. Could be wrong here but I swear the green tint on the clone blends into certain Rift terrain better than the default gold. Had a Katarina walk straight past my clone in river last Tuesday around 11 PM. Beautiful.

The Lunar Revel connection

Jade Dragon Wukong dropped January 10, 2012. Early days. Part of the Lunar Revel skinline, which Riot has built out significantly since then. The Lunar Revel skins always lean into that East Asian festival aesthetic and Wukong fits the theme naturally given his whole design is inspired by Sun Wukong from Journey to the West.

No splash artist credited for this one, which tracks for skins from that era. Riot wasnt always transparent about crediting individual artists back then. The splash itself is solid though – Wukong mid-leap with the jade staff extended, dragon energy swirling around him. (Random aside: I had this as my desktop wallpaper for like three months in 2012.)

There’s 1 chroma available. Meteorite. It shifts the palette into a darker brownish tone. I think the base jade green reads better personally, but Meteorite has its fans. Gives Wukong a more grounded, earthy look if the bright green isnt your thing.

Should you pick up Jade Dragon Wukong?

Real verdict: 975 RP feels fair for what you get. VFX updates on a Standard tier skin is above average. The Lunar Revel line has some misses but Jade Dragon Wukong is not one of them. Best Wukong skin in the budget range, full stop.

If you’re a Wukong main climbing through Diamond or wherever, this gives you a premium feel without Legendary pricing. Been running this in my ranked games this split and it just feels right for lane and for late-game teamfight dives. Shop has it permanently so no rush, but I’d say pick it up next time you have RP sitting around. Skip it only if you already own Lancer Stratus or Battle Academia – those are the real competition here, but they cost more. For the price point, Jade Dragon delivers.
