Gothic Orianna

First time I saw Gothic Orianna in a loading screen I had to double-take because it looked like someone modded the default skin in Photoshop. Not gonna lie, back in season 1 this was considered a solid pickup. The Goth skinline had a specific vibe Riot was going for and Orianna fit it better than most people give her credit for. Played maybe 40 games with this equipped around late 2022 when I was on an Orianna kick in Diamond and it does have a certain charm to it even now.

What actually changes on Gothic Orianna

So this is a 520 RP skin from the very early days of League. We’re talking June 1, 2011. That means you get a model and texture swap and thats basically it. No new particles on Q, W, E, or R. No new recall animation. Voice lines stay base. The Ball keeps the same VFX across all abilities which is a little disappointing but expected for the price point.

The model swap itself leans into darker purples and blacks across Orianna’s frame. Her dress gets this deep violet treatment and the Ball shifts to match. Kinda feels like Riot took the base Orianna palette and just cranked the darkness slider. The metal plating on her joints goes from warm gold tones to cooler silver-grey. Clean change.

In lane specifically the skin reads fine. Your Q ball is still easy to track for you and your opponent, the W zone doesnt change visually so no confusion there. Could be wrong here but I think the darker colors actually make the Ball slightly harder to spot in river fights around dragon pit at night. Might be placebo. (Random aside: I once had a Kayn on my team flame me for “playing a default skin” when I had Gothic equipped, thats how subtle it is.)

For teamfights the R shockwave is identical to base. No flashy new ult animation. If you’re someone who needs that visual feedback to feel good about a Shockwave landing on three people in the backline, this skin wont give you that dopamine hit any differently than default Orianna.

The Goth line and where Gothic Orianna fits

The Goth skinline is one of Riot’s oldest. We’re talking season 1 era designs. Gothic Orianna released alongside her champion launch, June 1, 2011. Day one skin. The Goth line includes a handful of champions and most of them share that same dark recolor philosophy without going full overhaul.

No chromas on this one. Shop has it for 520 RP which is about as cheap as skins get outside of the 390 tier. Available any time you want it. Real talk though, for 520 RP you know what you’re signing up for. A texture change and a vibe shift. Nothing more.

Been maining Orianna with this skin off and on since maybe season 9 I think or 10 dont remember. The splash art is fine for its age. Dark background, Orianna in her gothic outfit holding the Ball. No artist credit listed which was common for skins from that era. It gets the job done as a loading screen piece but it wont turn heads in 2026.

Should you pick up Gothic Orianna?

Straight talk: if you’re an Orianna one-trick looking to collect every skin, grab it. 520 RP is pocket change. But if you only want one Orianna skin? Skip this. Dark Star Orianna exists. Winter Wonder exists. Pool Party exists. All of those give you new particles, new sounds, the whole package.

Gothic Orianna is a relic. A season 1 skin that served its purpose when Orianna had two options total. Best use case I can think of is running it ironically in ranked last Tuesday around 2 AM when nobody cares what you look like and you just want to cs and scale into late-game teamfights. Overpriced? No, 520 RP is fair for a texture swap. Underwhelming by modern standards? Absolutely. The Goth aesthetic deserved better but Riot moved on to bigger skinlines years ago.

For Orianna mains climbing through Diamond who want their abilities to feel different, look elsewhere. For collectors and nostalgia enjoyers, Gothic Orianna is a cheap piece of League history sitting right there in the shop.
