First time I saw Corsair Quinn load in, I thought someone was running a custom skin. The pirate hat on Valor alone sold me. Been maining Quinn on and off since season 5, and this one caught me off guard when it dropped during the Bilgewater: Burning Tides event back in July 2015. Not gonna lie, for 750 RP this thing punches way above its weight class.
What Corsair Quinn actually changes
So at the Standard tier you don’t expect much. New model, new textures, maybe a coat of paint on the abilities. Corsair Quinn delivers exactly that but does it with more personality than most skins at this price point. Quinn gets a full pirate outfit, tricorn hat, leather boots, the whole seafaring look. Valor gets matching plumage that reads darker, almost crow-like against the Rift. The color palette shifts from Quinn’s usual Demacian blue-and-gold to deep browns and burgundy reds.
The new VFX surprised me. Her Q (Blinding Assault) has this slightly adjusted particle color that fits the Bilgewater theme. Subtle but noticeable in lane. Voice lines stay base, which is expected at this price. No new recall animation either. Honestly its fine for what it is. You’re paying for the model swap and the thematic shift, and both deliver.
Played maybe 40 games with this skin last season in Diamond and the auto attack animations feel identical to base, which matters more than people think on a marksman who relies on harrier procs. Some Quinn skins mess with the visual clarity of her passive mark but Corsair keeps it clean. Could be wrong here but I think the Q projectile reads slightly faster visually even though it’s the same speed. Placebo maybe.
The Bilgewater event and Sixmorevodka’s splash
Corsair Quinn released July 22, 2015 during the Bilgewater: Burning Tides event. That was one of Riot’s better world-building moments. Gangplank literally died in lore, the whole community lost it. Quinn showing up as a corsair fit the event perfectly since she’s canonically a Demacian scout, so going undercover as a pirate tracks.
Sixmorevodka Studio handled the artwork. They cooked on this one. The splash shows Quinn perched on ship rigging with Valor diving through stormy skies. (Random aside: this splash has been my Discord banner for like two years and nobody’s ever recognized it as Quinn.) The Bilgewater: Burning Tides skinline gave us some bangers that patch cycle and Corsair Quinn holds up well next to the rest.
No chromas available for this skin. Zero. Which I think is a missed opportunity honestly. A dark navy chroma or something blood-red would have been clean for the pirate fantasy. But Riot hasnt gone back to add chromas for most older 750 RP skins so I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Should you buy Corsair Quinn?
Real verdict: 750 RP feels fair for what you get. This is a solid Standard tier pickup. If you’re a Quinn one-trick climbing through ranked, you probably already own this. If you’re deciding between Corsair Quinn and Warden Quinn, I’d say Corsair has more character. Warden is cleaner but boring.
Shop has it permanently so no rush. I keep coming back to this skin specifically on ARAM or when I’m playing Quinn top into a melee matchup where I want to tilt them with the pirate hat during lane prio. Last Thursday around midnight I had a game where I kited a Darius for a solid 15 seconds in a teamfight and my duo said the skin made the outplay look cooler. Take this with a grain of salt but I think the darker model blends better with bushes when you’re setting up ganks from river.
Best budget Quinn skin full stop. Skip the expensive options unless you really need new voice lines or a flashy recall. Corsair Quinn does the job, looks great on the Rift, and costs less than a meal. For Quinn mains on a budget, this is the one.
