Worlds 2018 Kha'Zix - Splash, Price & Chromas

Not gonna lie, when Riot announced Kha’Zix as the Worlds 2018 jungle pick I wasnt surprised at all. The bug was everywhere in pro play that year, and giving him the championship treatment felt inevitable. Locked this in the second it hit the shop back in September 2018. First impression was clean. Not flashy, not trying too hard. Just a solid esports-themed Kha’Zix skin that does what it needs to do.

What the skin actually brings to the table

Worlds 2018 Kha’Zix sits at Epic tier for 1350 RP, and for that price you get new VFX across the board plus a custom recall animation. No new voice lines though. Voice stays default. The model itself goes heavy on the blue and gold World Championship palette, which honestly reads way better in game than it does in the splash. The blades on his claws pick up this metallic gold sheen that catches light during jungle clear, and the carapace armor has that dark navy base with championship insignia worked into it.

The Q isolation proc specifically looks great. Clean blue slash that pops against the Rift’s green. W spikes carry the same blue energy trail, and when you evolve abilities the visual upgrades feel distinct enough from base. Not groundbreaking for an Epic skin but the VFX team put in work here. Could be wrong here but I think the evolved W is the best-looking ability on this skin, the way the spikes fan out with that championship glow.

Recall animation ties into the Worlds trophy theme. Kha’Zix does this victory pose with the Summoner’s Cup, which is a nice touch if you care about the esports fantasy. Played maybe 200 games with this one across season 8 and 9, mostly in Diamond, and the animations never got old. The leap especially. Something about the trail VFX on evolved E just hits different when you’re diving the backline in a teamfight.

The Worlds line and all those chromas

Released September 27, 2018 as part of the World Championship skinline. Maki Planas Mata handled the artwork, and the splash captures the competitive energy well. Kha’Zix mid-leap with the championship aesthetic layered over his void design. Good piece.

Now here’s where it gets wild. 25 chromas total. Yeah, twenty-five. Every team competing at Worlds 2018 got their own chroma for this skin. Thats an absurd number. Most of them are just team color swaps but a few stand out. The Fnatic chroma with the orange and black looks aggressive in a way that fits Kha’Zix perfectly. Invictus Gaming’s white and black is probably the cleanest of the bunch, very minimal. And the Golden chroma is the flex pick if you want something that screams “I was there for Worlds 2018.”

(Random sidebar: I still have the G2 chroma equipped from when I thought they were gonna win it all that year. Aged like milk but I keep it for the memories.)

Legacy vault skin at this point, so you cant just grab it from the shop whenever you want. Need to wait for it to rotate back in or roll it from chests. Hextech only these days for the most part. Seen maybe 3 of these in my games all season, which honestly makes it feel more exclusive than it probably is.

Is 1350 RP fair for this Kha’Zix skin?

Real verdict: Worlds 2018 Kha’Zix is a competent Epic skin that doesn’t try to be more than it is. The VFX are solid, the recall is fun, and the championship color scheme works on Kha’Zix’s model better than some other Worlds skins I could name. No new VO which is standard for the price point. Fair enough.

The chroma situation is both a strength and a weakness. 25 options means theres something for basically every fan, but most of those teams dont even exist anymore. Flash Wolves, Kaos Latin Gamers, Ascension Gaming. Time capsule stuff. If you’re a Kha’Zix one-trick who also follows pro play, this is a must-have. Been maining Kha’Zix with this skin equipped during Worlds season every year since it dropped, feels right thematically when you’re ganking bot lane during October.

Straight talk: compared to Dark Star or Odyssey Kha’Zix, this one sits a tier below in terms of pure visual impact. Those skins reimagine the champion. Worlds 2018 just dresses him up for the tournament. Nothing wrong with that. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get, and the Legacy status gives it some collector value. Worth it for mains, skippable if you already have one of his flashier options. Last Tuesday I swapped between this and Mecha in a ranked session and kept coming back to Worlds 2018 for the cleaner ability reads. Sometimes understated wins.
