Withered Rose Zeri

First time I saw Withered Rose Zeri load in, I thought someone modded a visual novel character into my ranked game. The gothic floral aesthetic caught me off guard. Zeri already moves fast, already feels chaotic in teamfights, but slap this dark romantic theme on her and suddenly shes sliding through the backline looking like she belongs in a completely different game. Good different though.

How Withered Rose changes Zeri’s kit visually

The VFX overhaul is solid for an Epic tier skin. Her Q shots trail these wilted petal particles, dark reds and purples replacing the base electric blue. Looks clean against the Rift, especially in river fights where the color contrast pops. Not gonna lie, the auto attack animations with the charged passive feel crunchier with the new effects even though nothing mechanically changed.

Her E wall dash leaves behind a brief rose trail. Subtle but noticeable. The W lightning crash gets the same dark floral treatment, pinkish energy that reads well in lane. I tested this in maybe 15 games last February and the ability clarity never caused issues for me or my duo. Some skins mess with your visual reads on abilities but Withered Rose keeps everything distinct.

The recall animation is where Riot put extra love. Zeri interacts with withered roses, fits the skinline perfectly. Voice lines stay base, no VO refresh, which is expected at 1350 RP. Vanille Velasquez’s base Zeri voice works fine here anyway. The dark romantic vibe carries through the visuals alone.

Released January 20, 2022. Early season 12. Jeremy ‘Jermu’ Anninos nailed the splash, capturing that gothic elegance without making it too edgy. The Withered Rose line is one of Riot’s more niche themes. Sits alongside Withered Rose Syndra, Talon, and Elise. Kinda feels like Riot wanted a darker Crystal Rose counterpart and honestly it works better than the original in most cases.

8 chromas total. Obsidian is my go-to, goes full dark mode and the particles shift just enough to feel premium. Sapphire hits this icy blue that reminds me of a completely different champion fantasy. Rose Quartz leans into the pink harder than the base skin which some people prefer. The rest are fine but those three stood out across my games.

Could be wrong here but I think this was one of Zeri’s launch skins or close to it. She dropped in patch 12.2 and this skin came with her right out the gate. Having a skin this polished at release felt unusual. Most new champions get a mediocre launch skin and then something good six months later. Zeri broke that pattern. (Random aside: the splash art has been my Discord banner for like two years now and nobody has questioned it.)

Is 1350 RP fair for Withered Rose Zeri?

Real verdict: if you play Zeri at all, this skin competes for her best cosmetic. Been running this in Diamond on and off since season 12 and the visual clarity plus the aesthetic just work. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across abilities, solid recall, strong splash, and 8 chromas if you want variety.

The Withered Rose theme suits Zeri better than you’d expect. She’s this hyperactive ADC zipping around teamfights and the gothic romantic angle shouldn’t fit but it does. Played maybe 30 games with it last week specifically to revisit and my opinion hasnt changed. The skin holds up two years later.

Skip it only if you already own Immortal Journey Zeri and dont need another option in rotation. Shop has it permanently at 1350 RP, no vault nonsense. For Zeri mains climbing through bot lane, this is the skin if you can only own one. Three things stood out across all my time with it: the Q particle color, the recall animation, and how clean Obsidian chroma looks at 2 AM when you’re grinding your fifth ranked game. Worth it.
