Star Guardian Quinn

First time I saw Star Guardian Quinn load into my game I genuinely had to double-take. Quinn getting a Star Guardian skin felt like Riot finally remembered she exists, and honestly the execution here surprised me. Been running this in Diamond for a few months now and it holds up way better than I expected from a champion who gets maybe one skin every three years.

What the skin actually changes

Valor gets the full magical companion treatment. Thats probably the biggest sell here. The bird transforms into this celestial guardian familiar with star trails and sparkle particles on every ability. Q sends out Valor wrapped in pink and gold VFX that pop hard against the Rift, especially in river fights around dragon pit. The E vault feels smoother visually, something about the star burst on contact just reads cleaner than base.

W reveal got updated particles too. Little star markers instead of the generic vision pulse. Not gonna lie, it actually helped me track the reveal radius better in my ranked games last week. Could be placebo but the visual clarity feels improved.

New recall animation is solid. Quinn and Valor do the whole magical girl pose sequence. Nothing groundbreaking for the Star Guardian line but it fits. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is standard for a 1350 RP Epic tier skin. The model itself swaps Quinn’s ranger look for the full Star Guardian uniform with the pleated skirt and thigh-highs that every guardian gets. Purple and pink color scheme with gold accents.

R is where it shines though. Valor’s taxi form goes full celestial bird mode with trailing star particles behind you. Played maybe 40 games with this skin in solo queue and every time I ult from base to a lane the particle trail looks clean. Simple change – huge impact on how the roam feels.

Star Guardian Season 4 and the splash

Released July 28, 2022. Part of the Star Guardian Season 4 wave which was one of the bigger skin drops that year. Eric Xie and West Studio handled the artwork, they captured Quinn and Valor mid-flight with the whole guardian team in the background. Strong composition.

The Star Guardian Season 4 line was stacked. Quinn shared the spotlight with Kai’Sa, Ekko, Sona, and others that patch. Kinda feels like Quinn was the sleeper pick of the batch though. Most people were losing their minds over Star Guardian Kai’Sa but Quinn’s skin quietly ended up being one of the better executed of the set.

9 chromas available. Obsidian is my go-to, it turns the whole palette dark purple and black which reads way more aggressive for a toplaner. Brilliant has this pastel pink-to-blue gradient that hits the magical girl fantasy harder than base. Pearl goes clean white and honestly its cool for the minimalist look but I keep coming back to Obsidian. (Random aside: the Obsidian chroma Valor looks like a shadow phoenix and I’m here for it.)

Is Star Guardian Quinn worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: if you main Quinn this is competing with Warden and Heartseeker for best skin slot. Star Guardian brings more visual flair than either of those. The VFX upgrades on Q and R alone justify the price for me. Been maining Quinn with this since around season 12 and I dont see myself switching back.

For non-Quinn players, skip it. You know what surprised me? How few of these I see in my games. Maybe 2 or 3 all season in Diamond. Quinn’s pickrate is low enough that you’ll basically have a unique skin in every lobby.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across the kit, solid recall, great chromas if you want variety. Shop has it permanently so no rush. Not the flashiest Star Guardian but for Quinn one-tricks specifically this is the skin. Worth it if you main Quinn, easy pass if you dont play her. Three things stood out: Valor’s celestial form, the R trail particles, and how clean Obsidian chroma looks at 2 AM when you’re grinding ranked and everything else blurs together.
