Spirit Blossom Springs Sona

First game I loaded into with Spirit Blossom Springs Sona, my ADC typed “that skin is clean” before minions even spawned. Not gonna lie, the splash alone had me sold before I even saw it in motion. Sona has a deep skin catalog at this point and most of them blur together after a while, but this one sits in a different space entirely. The Spirit Blossom Springs line leans into that ethereal hot springs aesthetic and Sona fits it like she was designed for it from the start.

How Spirit Blossom Springs Sona actually looks in game

The model work here is solid for an Epic. Sona’s etwahl gets this translucent cherry blossom treatment with petals drifting off it during idle animations. Her outfit shifts to flowing spring-water blues and soft pinks, the kind of palette that reads well on the Rift without being too noisy. Kinda feels like they took the original Spirit Blossom concept and softened everything by about 30%.

Voice lines stay base. No VO refresh on this one, which is expected at the Epic tier. Base voice lines, no changes. The particles dont carry the same weight as something like DJ Sona obviously, but the Q poke and W heal have this gentle ripple effect that I think looks cleaner than most of her catalog. Power chord proc specifically has a nice visual pop to it. Been running this in Diamond support games for a couple weeks now and the readability is fine, never had issues telling my abilities apart in a teamfight.

The recall is standard. No new recall animation which is a slight miss honestly. Would have loved some hot springs themed back animation but thats the Epic tier ceiling for you. Her E speed boost trail leaves these faint petal traces on the ground though, subtle enough that you might miss it if you’re not looking.

Spirit Blossom Springs and where Sona fits

The Spirit Blossom Springs skinline is Riot’s expansion on the original Spirit Blossom universe. More relaxed vibe. Less dramatic lore, more aesthetic. Sona slots in naturally because her whole champion fantasy is about harmony and music, and the springs theme plays into that without forcing it. The line has been growing steadily and I think Sona is one of the stronger entries.

8 chromas total on this one. Obsidian turns the whole thing dark and moody, which is a hard contrast against the base skin’s soft tones. Rose Quartz leans into a deeper pink that honestly reads better in lane than the default. Tanzanite goes purple and hits that mage fantasy angle. Could be wrong here but I think Pearl might be the weakest of the bunch, it washes out the details on the etwahl at certain camera angles. (Random aside: my duo partner bought every single chroma day one and has been rotating them game by game like a psycho.)

Shop has it. Permanent availability so no rush to grab it. Spirit Blossom Springs Sona sits at the standard Epic price point for the tier.

Should you pick this up?

Real verdict: if you main Sona this is a strong pickup. Not the absolute ceiling of what Sona skins can be, DJ Sona exists and that’s an Ultimate for a reason, but Spirit Blossom Springs Sona competes well against everything else in her lineup. Played maybe 40 games with it over the last two weeks, mostly in ranked around Diamond 3, and it hasnt gotten old yet.

The skin does what an Epic should do. Clean model, nice color palette, solid chromas if you want variety. Been maining Sona with this as my go-to and I keep coming back to it over Immortal Journey and Star Guardian. The Spirit Blossom Springs aesthetic just works for a champion whose whole identity is calm precision and peel in the backline.

Skip it if you already own DJ or Prestige Requiem and feel covered. But for Sona one-tricks building out their collection, or support mains who lock in Sona when the comp needs it, fair price for the package. That ranked game last Friday where I landed a five-person crescendo ult, the particles looked gorgeous. Worth it for moments like that alone. Not the best Sona skin full stop, but top three easy.
