First time I saw Ocean Song Ashe load into my game I thought someone was running a custom skin. The whole vibe is so different from anything else in Ashe’s catalog that it caught me off guard. Not gonna lie, I had to check the skin tab after that match because I wanted it immediately. Locked it in the same night and been running it in ranked since.
How Ocean Song changes Ashe on the Rift
The theme is summer music festival meets ocean waves, and Riot committed to it hard. Ashe’s model swaps out the Freljord ice queen aesthetic for this tropical pop star look. She’s got flowing aqua hair, a festival-ready outfit, and her bow looks like its made from crystallized water and coral. Big departure from her usual frost archer identity.
VFX got a full rework for this Epic tier. Her W volley sends out these shimmering water projectiles that fan across the lane. Clean visual clarity honestly. You can track every arrow. Her E hawk scout turns into this little water spirit bird that glides across the map. Cute detail that most people wont even notice because who’s watching the hawk animation mid-game.
The Q is where it gets interesting for ADC mains. When you stack up Ranger’s Focus and pop it, the auto attacks turn into these rapid water bolts. In teamfights with lethal tempo it looks like a water cannon going off. Played maybe 80 games with this skin last season and the Q visual never got old. Her R is the highlight though. Crystal Arrow becomes this massive tidal wave projectile that surges down the lane. Feels satisfying to land a cross-map ult and watch the wave crash into their backline. Had a game last Wednesday where I sniped their Ezreal recalling at tier 2 tower and the kill cam looked gorgeous.
Recall animation is festival-themed. Ashe does this little concert performance with water effects swirling around her. Flashy. Base voice lines stay default, no VO refresh on this one, which is expected at 1350 RP.
The Ocean Song line and release details
Ocean Song dropped June 9, 2022. Mid season 12. The Ocean Song skinline was Riot’s summer music event that year and honestly it was one of their better thematic drops. Ashe, Seraphine, Nidalee, Yone, and Zeri all got skins in the batch.
Terence ‘Terrylefruit’ Cantal handled the artwork. The splash captures the vibe perfectly. Ashe standing on stage with ocean waves crashing behind her, microphone in hand. Could be wrong here but I think this is one of the better composed Ashe splashes in her entire collection. (Random aside: I used this splash as my Discord banner for like three months straight.)
8 chromas total for Ocean Song Ashe. Obsidian is my pick, the dark water aesthetic hits different and reads cleaner against the Rift’s green tones. Rose Quartz shifts everything pink and gives off K-pop energy. Tanzanite goes deep purple which pairs well if you’re running the dark HUD. Not gonna list all eight because half of them are just color swaps without much personality, but those three stood out to me after cycling through them in practice tool.
This Epic skin sits at 1350 RP. Shop has it, permanent availability. Kinda feels like standard pricing for what you get, nothing surprising there.
Should you buy Ocean Song Ashe?
Real verdict: Ocean Song Ashe is a solid mid-tier pick in what might be the most stacked skin catalog in the game. Ashe has so many options that competition is brutal. PROJECT Ashe exists. Cosmic Queen exists. Fae Dragon exists. Ocean Song doesn’t dethrone any of those for me but it fills a completely different fantasy.
If you want your Ashe to feel like a frost archer, skip this. If you want something light, colorful, and fun for when you’re spamming normals at 1 AM on a Saturday, this is the one. The VFX are clean, the model is fresh, and the chromas give you options. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get.
For Ashe mains specifically: you probably already own this. For everyone else grinding ADC in solo queue, maybe just my experience but this skin’s auto attack animations feel smooth in lane. Could be placebo. Probably is. Still like it though. Not the best Ashe skin full stop, but a strong rotation pick when you want to switch things up from the heavier themed options.
