First time I loaded this skin into a game I had to double-take at the splash screen. Masque of the Black Rose Samira carries this theatrical Noxian masquerade energy that fits her personality so well it almost feels like it should have been her base design. Been running this in Diamond since it dropped in January and honestly not gonna lie, it changed how I feel about playing Samira in ranked.

What the Masque of the Black Rose skin actually changes

The VFX rework here is what sells it. Samira’s Q has this dark rose petal trail that scatters on impact, and her W blade whirl picks up the same motif. Subtle stuff but it reads cleanly in teamfights when everything is chaos. The E dash leaves a faint crimson streak behind her. Clean.

Her ult is where things get interesting. The Inferno Trigger spins out these black and deep red particle effects that look way more menacing than base. Kinda feels like Riot put extra attention into the R specifically because thats where Samira mains spend most of their highlight reels. Playing this skin, the VFX really pop against the Rift’s green tones especially in river fights around dragon.

New recall animation too. She does this dramatic bow with a masquerade flourish, very on theme for the Masque of the Black Rose line. No new voice lines though, voice stays default. Emily O’Brien’s base VO still works fine here since Samira’s personality already has that cocky duelist vibe that matches the aristocratic skin fantasy.

The Masque of the Black Rose skinline pulls from Noxian high society lore. Think secret political gatherings behind ornate masks. Samira fits naturally here since she’s literally from Noxus in the lore. Elise and Renata Glasc got skins in the same line and honestly the whole set works. (Random aside: the Elise version might be my phone wallpaper now.)

No chromas on this one. Special pricing puts it outside the normal RP tiers. Available now in the shop. For a Standard tier skin with new VFX and a recall animation, the value proposition is solid. Last Tuesday around 2 AM I was queueing ranked and saw maybe 3 other players using it, so its not oversaturated yet either.

Should you pick up Masque of the Black Rose Samira?

Real verdict: if you main Samira or even just have her in your ADC rotation, this skin earns its spot. The VFX changes on ult alone make teamfights feel different. Could be wrong here but I think this is one of the better executed skins in the Masque of the Black Rose set. The dark rose aesthetic just clicks with Samira’s dive-heavy playstyle.

Been spamming this for about three months now and it hasnt gotten stale. Skip it if you already own High Noon Samira and only play her occasionally, that one covers a different fantasy. But for one-tricks and Samira mains climbing through ranked this season? Top pick for Samira mains. The peel and engage reads feel cleaner with the updated particles, and in a late-game comp where you’re looking to lock-in that S-rank and press R into their backline, the visuals just hit different.
